Everyone enjoys seeing dolphins round their boat. And it seems catamarans attract more dolphins than monohulls. Presumably because the two bows are more fun to play with - and yes dolphins definitely play on the bow waves. We've seen two swim fast under the bridgedeck from port stern to starboard bow and vice versa, crossing underneath and seeing how close to the bow they could get. And we've seen the other dolphins clearly laughing at the one who hit our bow when cutting it too fine. That didn't happen this time, but here's a recent video taken when sailing our 30ft Sagitta catamaran from Fowey to Plymouth. Unusually for the English Channel it was clear, flat water so we could watch them easily.

I set out to capture something special — the summer solstice sunrise at Old Harry Rocks in Dorset. Staying overnight in the National Trust car park, I didn’t expect to share it with paddleboarders arriving at 3am, ready to see the sunrise from the calm sea. It continues to be a challenging Summer trying to get out on the water. We are still dealing with some water level issues but that has been a significant issue. The major issue continues to be the weeds. I suspect that the lower water levels this year have been a major contributor to the excessive weed growth. It has been a struggle, but we have been managing to get out. We still continue to drag a massive amount of weeds out on our keel, sail drive and rudder. Here you see us crossing the Canal of Corinth. You see how the cliffs look on both sides when you pass with your ship (max width is 24 meters). The Canal is only 8 meters deep and one-way traffic. It’s one of the narrowest sea canals in the world and even cruiseships can pass through when they are below 52 meters (because of the 6 bridges over the Canal!). We really enjoyed the sail, it's only 6 km long, but really impressive to see. And it saves ships like us the 340 km of sail south around the penninsula of Pelepponnesos to go from east to west of Greece (or west to east)!
