Watch as we perform complete maintenance service on a Lewmar 30 self-tailing winch. We take you through this process step by step. We'll show you what tools and supplies you'll need. While many models and brands of winches will be slightly different, this video will give you a basic understanding of how to clean and service a sailboat winch.
It was only a month ago that we were walking the shores of Perth in Western Australia. This is one of the finest cities we have been to. During our four days we take you on a wine tour, visit Fremantle and come face to face with Australia 2 and that famous keel. We absolutely love the museum, such an inspiration! We visit Rottnest island, what a beautiful island! So organised as well, they have a bus that’s takes you all the way around, we walked most of the way and loved the white sandy beaches and the blue water. Dreaming about being back in the big blue! Consider to subscribe to our channel to help us to keep producing these free videos for you! Follow our blog with our daily adventures on Facebook . We post our route everyday, showing you the ups and downs of sailing. An amazing adventure documented every single day. We are really enjoying this life and sharing everything with you it's been wonderful . Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Sailing vessel Tapatya. Tapatya and I sail back to our winter mooring. There's a minor issue with the diesel system, but Bob the tiller pilot comes good and all works out well! This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. At the time of writing, I've launched the boat and amn conducting sea trials. This coming winter, I'll be upgrading her based on what I've learnt and getting ready to sail further afield :) These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. The plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill @ivanhamill #TheCruisingKiwis
Ich danke euch für eure Unterstützung! ❤️ https://www.patreon.com/marietim 🍺 https://paypal.me/marietimde 👕 http://www.marietim.ch/shop/ #sailing #pacific #blind Please like Craig’s video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf12aDJv9Ww *** Deutsch: bitte runter scrollen *** On my channel, I usually post videos of my own sailing adventures. This video is different: blind captain and liveaboard Craig Faris is the focus of this episode! Craig and I met each other on Instagram. I was immediately in total awe of his sailing project. Craig was born blind. He lives on his 31 ft sailboat in North Vancouver and wants to sail across the Pacific to New Zealand. For that, he has entered the Holman Prize competition – a competition where blind people submit their projects via a pitch video on YouTube and the ones with the most thumbs-up get to the final. If Craig wins, he’ll be able to finance the special equipment (e.g. talking compass, talking radar) needed for his big trip. In order to spread the word of his big adventure, I asked Craig if he wanted to do a sort of interview on my channel. He said yes, and that’s how this video came about. I wanted to know all about why he likes to sail, how he goes about his daily routine on his boat, and whether he ever gets sea sick. Having been a liveaboard and ocean crosser myself I know that sailing can be hard, tiring and challenging at times. That is why I admire Craig even more! My granddad was blind, having lost his eyesight in an accident, after which his life needed a lot of adjusting. In publishing this video, I want to raise awareness that you can follow your dreams even with a disability. We should all be a little more like Craig, just going out there and following our dreams! Please like Craig’s pitch video for the Holeman Prize. That way, we can see him set sail to New Zealand. Thank you, Marie.

In this introductory episode we tell you who we are, take you down memory lane to show you our Scottish sailing to date, and we take you through the journey of buying a new boat in a global pandemic. This venture turned out to be quite the adventure filled with many lifelong memories. Our journey to finding the RIGHT boat took us over a year. We travelled to see a variety of yachts around Scotland, Ireland, and Croatia and eventually… WE DID IT! We BOUGHT a NEW BOAT! Altair was located in Ireland and had an eventful 5-day long sail back to her new home in Scotland. In April 2021, our old boat, a Westerly 33 sold and sailed off with her new owners. We now fully focus on getting Altair seaworthy and looking forward to our sailing her. However, Ragdoll will be dearly missed and once renamed, Altair has quite the boots to fill. Who are we? We are a family of three with three dogs, sailing the coasts of Scotland, exploring one island at a time – for now! There is no set route or plan. We will go where the wind and life take us. We have two golden retrievers and a bernese mountain dog – Hachi, Luna and Meems who sail with us. We sail on a 1995 Gib’Sea 472 who we are in the process of refitting, making our own and preparing for a big adventure. Connect with us! This 70yo Sailor Challenged the Frozen Hell of Cape Horn with a 20-Foot Sailboat — And This Happened
At 70 years old, this fearless sailor set out to round Cape Horn aboard a modest 20-foot sailboat. Battling freezing winds, towering waves, and sheer isolation, his journey became a true test of endurance and seamanship. - Copyright Fair Use Disclaimer: The material presented in this video is not exclusively owned by us.
