Six weeks to sail 1,200 nm from Montenegro to the South of France, in spring, even with the Mediterranean’s famous “all the wind or no wind”?? That’s plenty of time, or so we thought!! But, with spring slow to start in the Mediterranean this year, we ended up pinned down by bad weather for weeks and becalmed floating around in circles going nowhere.... By now we were tired from overnight passages and frustrated by the inaccuracies of weather forecasts in the Mediterranean but, as we began what we hoped would be our last night at sea for a while, and with the forecast seemingly coming true, we were excited to finally arrive and slow down.... This video is about Sailing in the Kingdom of Tonga, Vava’u Group, Ep 54, Off the Starboard Hull in the South Pacific in a Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran. A Canadian Couple from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada left from Parksville July 21, 2016 to sail around the world in their Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran. See how they get along, who they meet and where they end up going. They have a 10 year estimated time line, but a very open agenda. On August 4th, 2018, we arrived in Swarrow, a nature reserve with 2 resident rangers in the Cook Islands. Then we went to the island country of Niue (our 2nd favourite place after Maupiti) with unlimited underwater visibility, pristine coral, baby humpback whales, caverns and chasms. Breathtaking! From there, we traveled to Neiafu (with dozens of protected anchorages), Pangai in the Haipai region and Nuku’alofa, all 3 regions in Tonga. Next was Minerva Reef for 20 hours before we embarked on the notorious passage to NZ. Since Nov 12 2018, we have been in Opua New Zealand and are loving the friendly people, the lovely Bay of Islands and the access to materials and shops to do some boat projects.

This week we start our exploration of the Island Tenerife, Canary Islands. We discovered HAM, I mean in a porky kinda way, Iberian Pork, the most incredible meat ever!!! We also anchor at the foot of some of the highest cliffs in Spain, they rise up to 800m above water and drop to up to 100m below. Called Los Gigantes, meaning The Giants. We are Puerto Rico bound!! After sailing across the Atlantic from Gran Canaria to Cape Verde to Grenada, we finally take a little break from the constant sailing and settle down in Puerto Rico for some time! I think I've finally found the perfect S55 (tt) sound. Got a Valvetronic (clone) and added a Vibrant ultra quiet resonator. The resonator was put directly at the Y site to the single pipe junction. So the separate banks merge into the resonator. The original design of this setup is insanely loud and at low loads & RPMs there's a nasty tinny and harsh sound that is pretty bad when trying to daily it, plus literally just straight pipe so incredibly loud. Adding the resonator at the merge cleaned up ALL the unwanted sounds and volume.
