Velejadores itajaienses farão expedição inédita em comemoração aos 20 anos da Associação Náutica de Itajaí Projeto “ANI pelo Brasil”. O veleiro Gosto D’Água, embarcação utilizada no projeto, passará por 15 cidades e 10 estados da costa brasileira, e só pretende voltar às águas itajaienses após seis meses. A Expedição ANI pelo Brasil irá comemorar os 20 anos de trabalho da ONG itajaiense, que já ensinou mais de 16 mil alunos da rede pública a remar e velejar com o projeto “Navegando Pela Cidadania”. Em cada parada, os velejadores farão palestras abordando a história da ONG, a cultura náutica itajaiense, o desenvolvimento sustentável e a economia azul para o público local. “Queremos que esse projeto leve o nome da ANI e de Itajaí para outros municípios brasileiros que também desenvolvem o mundo náutico. A associação tem 20 anos de história e é um exemplo de práticas educativas e sustentáveis não só para a cidade, mas para o país inteiro.”, afirmou o ex-presidente da Associação Náutica e coordenador da Expedição ANI pelo Brasil, Claudio Copello. Durante as travessias, a equipe irá participar de duas competições importantes do calendário da vela oceânica brasileira. A primeira, Regata Aratu-Maragojipe, e a segunda, Regata Refeno (Recife-Fernando de Noronha). Além disso, o projeto prevê vagas para travessias divididas entre os 15 pontos de paradas. As pessoas interessadas poderão ter a experiência de navegação e imersão a bordo. Preparing to live on a sailboat full time

Today I was too lazy to hoist mainsail so decided to go on the spinnaker only. And its a first time I am testing this asymmetrical spinnaker with the sock(not furler). So far deploying it was easy, we will see later today how hard it is to put it down with out mainsail to cover wind :)

Trent spoke of how GCCM weathered two years of COVID restrictions, relying on a local boom in boating, and is now looking forward to welcoming back owners, Captains and crew from all over Australia, New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific and international vessels. Among other topics were the 2032 Olympic Games and 2027 Rugby World Cup and how such events will attract yachts Down Under. Trent was very enthusiastic about GCCM's expansion plans and investment in its workforce and Marine Trades Academy to accommodate this rise in superyacht visitation.

Don't remove your car thermostat, it will kill engine performance and your going to freeze in winter. So let's go over what the thermostat does and why you shouldn't remove it, or you can just watch the video. Still reading? Let's dive in. So we all know that gas ain't cheap, well that little thermostat plays a key role in getting your engine up to best operating temperature. How this works you may ask? Basically, when the engine is cold, the thermostat is closed, preventing water from being cooled by the radiator. This forces only the water in the engine and heater core to circulate in a closed loop allowing the engine to heat up faster. Because the engine heats up faster it will reach optimal temperature faster reducing cold engine fuel burn. Anyone who has driven a carbureted car knows how bad they usta run when cold. The reason this happens is the fuel ration to air is much higher because either the car computer or choke has enriched it. If the thermostat is removed this will take much longer. Now let's talk about your winter comfort. Above you saw that the engine will run in a closed cooling loop when cold. Well this helps you greatly when the weather is a little nippy because the heater core warms up faster. You may ask what is a heater core? Well it is a small radiator that is in your cars air conditioner that extracts heat from the engine coolant and keeps you toasty. I know this all too well when my heater core busted and I bypassed it just so I could drive. Those were some cold times. In this episode we leave the island of Lanzarote, and sail down the east coast of the Canary Island of Fuerteventura, where we see an unusual dolphin sighting....Risso's dolphins. We then explore the Fuerteventura town of Morro Jable, and hike the adjacent tallest peak on the island, Pico de la Zarza. Great views and a nice challenging (but achievable) hike. We then move to Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria, where we do a bit of exploring, but also a bunch of boat work including: - replacing the engine control panel - fixing cabin lights and reading lights - defrosting the fridge, and adding an insulating gasket - replacing the salon table latches We then provision for our passage to Cape Verde, and explore the old town area, visiting the Museo Canario, and eat some Canarian tapas! After we had attended the 4-day conference in San Diego in the USA, we took 1 week extra for a roadtrip through California. We rented a car (Ford Mustang) and had great time driving through Joshu Tree National Park, Mammoth Lakes, Mono Lake and Sequoia Forest. It was Memorial Day Weekend, so lots of Americans were BBQ-ing, rafting on the rivers and having a great time as well! We made a video of the 10 highlights of our California Road trip including drone footage in Sequoia National Park (80 meter high trees, 2200 years old) and during the Shania Twain concert we attended in the Hollywood Superbowl in Los Angeles on the last evening!
