A mellow month in the Marshall islands! This week we settle in to life in Majuro. We organise our cruising permits for outer atoll travel. We do a big restocking of the larder after a few months of travel through Tuvalu and Kiribati. The local shops and supermarkets are well stocked but we have to keep a close eye on the use by dates... . Amazon is definitely our friend this week as we take advantage of the low shipping rates. And we finally replace Dave. Big shoes to fill , but Daisy seems up for the task ... We are Jo and Rob and we are here to share our sailing adventures with you. In 2016, inspired by the likes of ‘Delos’, ‘Sailing La Vagabonde’ and ‘Gone with The Wynns’, we sold up everything we owned and bought our 40ft, Fountaine Pajot ‘Lipari 41 Evo’ sailing catamaran ‘Double Trouble’. We had no sailing experience whatsoever, so the past few years have been a huge learning curve. We thought it might be fun to document our travels for anyone thinking of following a similar lifestyle. So far we have visited 7 different countries and sailed over 13,000 nautical miles. We have had many unique experiences that would not have been possible in our prior life and we don’t regret a second. We're both super keen on protecting our precious environment, so amongst other things, we both follow a plant based diet. You wont find any fishing footage on this channel! Subscribe now and join us as we continue our salty travels around the world. https://www.youtube.com/c/SailingDoubleTrouble?sub_confirmation=1 👏Credits: Thanks to 'Shure ' microphones for voiceover sound. 🎼Music: DT Theme tune - 'Happy' by MBB https://soundcloud.com/mbbofficial Creative Commons — Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported — CC BY-SA 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... One of the defining characteristics of the Beneteau Oceanis 51.1 is her hull design, which is not only a visual delight but also delivers a superb balance of performance cruising and interior volume. She has wide decks, a fully opening transom, and a spacious cockpit, offering ample room for relaxation, including two large sun pads flanking the companionway. The helm station is thoughtfully laid out, allowing the skipper to move freely and easily handle sail trimming and manoeuvres. She’s equipped with a 110 hp Yanmar shaft-drive diesel engine, bow thruster, generator, water maker, full B&G navigation pack, and a dinghy with outboard. Fold-away telescopic davits add to her functionality without compromising her sleek profile. Notable deck features include a generously sized drop-leaf cockpit table with a fridge forward and life raft storage aft. Below deck, the Beneteau Oceanis 51.1 impresses with its bright and voluminous interior. Numerous overhead hatches flood the space with natural light, complemented by the elegant ‘brushed oak’ finish, which creates a warm, contemporary atmosphere. The layout includes two forward guest cabins with double beds and en-suite bathrooms. Aft, the two double cabins and the twin bunk cabin share the second bathroom, while a separate crew cabin is located in the bow. The main saloon features a comfortable lounge area, a C-shaped galley to port, and a spacious navigation area. The saloon is fully climate-controlled by an air conditioning system for your comfort, no matter the weather. In short: a capable yacht for extended cruising or relaxed sailing with family and friends. More information: https://whitesyachts.com/yachts/beneteau-oceanis-51-1-2/

I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** Sometimes you just need a break from the cruising life. After our friends left us in the Seychelles, we ended up waiting TWO MONTHS for a weather window to sail down to Madagascar. Rather than sail the same path around the islands, we elected to just enjoy marina life for a while. And we're glad we did! We got into an exercise routine, worked hard on videos and still managed to get out and explore Mahe! Renting a car for a day, we drove around the whole island, eating some delicious local delicacies, stopping at more gorgeous Seychelles beaches and watching a stunning sunset at Beau Vallon. And because we waited long enough, our friends Carlos and Linda from the boat Mirniy Okean (@22South) caught up to us after they diverted course due to a problem with their autopilot. We took them on a hike up the Capolia trail for another amazing view (watch that last step!) before finally getting a good enough weather window to head south. What a way to end up our time in the Seychelles! Thanks for watching! (Footage from Aug/Sept 2019) Curious for more up to date info on where we are and what we're doing?
After spending several days in the beautiful Beaulieu Sur Mer and Cap St Jean de Ferrat, we left mainland Europe and sailed to Corsica. We were nervous, as this was our first long passage in over a year. We left in the late afternoon and sailed through the night discovering that nighttime sailing passages are our preference. I so enjoy the star filled nights imagining ancient navigators sailing unimpeded by GPS, AIS and radio waves. Propelled by a fresh breeze around Cap de Corse, we arrive a the Bay of Tamarone, a lovely stop over with a welcome beach bar. After 2 nights we head further down the coast and discover the Bay of Pietracorbera. A spectacular anchorage that Nicole quickly states is her favorite yet. It has 4 distinct levels of mountains, clear turquoise water and a beach bar serving up a delicious burger and fries. We welcome Casey and Maddie from Seattle and head down the coast toward Palombaggia and Porto Vecchio. Another night passage of motoring followed by a offshore breeze to finish the passage.
Electric motor of our Lewmar windlass stopped working when we first used it. I decided to take apart both motor and gearbox. And it was necessary! TECHNICAL INFO: F1 and F2 are directional plusses, A is going to center winding and connected to F1 or F2, depending on the direction of the windlass, and NEG is ground/negative.
