Abbiamo lasciato Y2K a Scarborough per un road trip verso il cantiere di Bundaberg: è arrivato il momento di organizzare i lavori alla carena (rimozione coppercoat, trattamento antiosmosi e antivegetativa). Il preventivo di Tony ci ha letteralmente lasciati senza fiato: 15.000 euro (se tutto va bene!). 💸 Per riprenderci dallo shock (e siccome siamo a dieta strettissima, niente alcol per affogare i dispiaceri!), siamo volati qualche giorno in Nuova Zelanda per il rinnovo del visto, con tanto di tuffo nei ricordi a Whangarei. Now the real haul-out work begins. After the sail drive drama in Episode 61, it’s time to get stuck into the big maintenance jobs underneath ARGO. First up we give the hulls a proper clean to remove staining before Jason tackles sanding the hulls himself – all in preparation for applying fresh antifoul. Then comes a first for us: applying Prop Speed to the sail drives and props. With a professional job happening on the boat next door, Jason suddenly has a benchmark… and he reckons his result might actually be better. We also start tackling a few other jobs while ARGO is on the hard: • Applying the first coat of antifoul • Installing water tank senders so we finally know exactly how much water we have onboard • Starting repairs on the diesel tanks (which has turned into a much bigger job than expected - of course it did) • Getting the tramps repaired It’s a busy haul-out and the learning curve has been steep – but incredibly satisfying. We took a break from sanding on the teak decks and enjoyed a weekend in New Orleans. We rented a condo in the French Quarter and did all of the typical French Quarter things (well the typical things you do with kids in tow :) ) We enjoyed the balcony of our place, had great food, rode the street cars, cruised through the Garden District, went to the Butterfly and insect museum, Had more great food, walked a lot, visited the french market, and had more great food. Enjoy our little respite from the "Grind" of boat repair. Literally the grind of boat repair as you will see the newer progress made on the teak decks with an aggressive way to smooth the decks and get them flat. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. Episode 49 Annecam Sailing Australia Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club Rendezvous 2017. Sit back and watch some of what we the crew on Annecam got up to at this fantastic rendezvous to help raise much needed funds for prostate cancer research. La 7e édition de l’ENGIE KITE TOUR, Coupe de France FFVL (Fédération Française de Vol Libre) de Kitesurf Speed Crossing, a lieu du 9 juin au 22 octobre 2017 autour de 4 étapes clés sur les plages du littoral français. Cette compétition, soutenue par le Groupe ENGIE depuis 2010, est devenue incontournable et très attendue par l’ensemble de la communauté des kitesurfers avec en moyenne 80 riders inscrits, en provenance de toute la France. La deuxième étape s’achève sur la Côte d’Opale où les riders inscrits ont allié vitesse, engagement et technicité sur un parcours balisé par des bouées formant un «W» au large dans la baie de Saint Jean. Les organisateurs et les riders ont dû s’armer de patience car les conditions de vent étaient particulièrement capricieuses durant toute la durée de cette deuxième étape. Après une première journée sans vent vendredi, les conditions météorologiques de samedi ont permis de valider 2 manches sous 15 nœuds.
