The boatyard has reopened after COVID lock down restrictions were eased. We prioritised the boat repairs to just get the boat ready to go back into the water and so we could at least have some sailing this season.
🖥 Sit back and enjoy ! 🎥 : Guillaume Gatefait, Martin Kéruzoré-Air Vide et Eau productions @jeremieeloy Francois Dourlen Elsa Blayau . . . . . #goteamsvrlazartigue #transatjacquesvabre #Kresk4Oceans #courseaularge #trimaran #sailing #OffshoreSailing #Sailors #skippers #Voile #offshore #sport #sailinginstagram #Ultimclass #sailingpassion #skipper #CleanBeauty #beauteresponsable Lazartigue Laboratoire SVR Laboratoires Fillmed

Und wir wollten unsere Grundlast regenerativ abdecken. Wir wollten schnell los! *Episode 306 | The final countdown to the haul out is here.* In this episode, we tackle some of the most massive woodwork of the entire restoration. We are building the gaff spars, the main boom, and the jaws entirely from scratch. This isn’t just carpentry, it’s a race against the clock. The moon is shifting, the tide is rising, and Yabá needs to be out of the water tomorrow. *We wish we could stop the clock to get more jobs done, but time doesn't work that way.* Join us in the workshop for a deep dive into traditional ship carpentry, the reality of shipyard stress, and the satisfying moment when the last big build is finally ready for the sea. ⚓ *Subscribe* to follow our journey: If you want to see the full haul-out and the technical challenges of maintaining a handmade wooden boat, make sure to hit that subscribe button! → https://bit.ly/3dI3hBn 💙 *Support the adventure:* 🌊 *Join our crew on Patreon* → Exclusive content here: https://www.patreon.com/sailingyaba ☕ *Send us a drink* → via PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=JEA5R5RUDJDLY 🧢 *Shop our gear* → Coolest T-shirts and hats here: https://shopsailingyaba.com/ 💌 *Receive letters from the sea* → Sign up (for free) for MP's newsletter: http://sailingyaba.substack.com ✨ *Want to sail with us?* We’d love to share an adventure with you! But this wasn’t always our life. In 2020, we found Yabá abandoned, sinking, and on the verge of being lost forever. We had no experience in boatbuilding, only a wild dream and the determination to make it happen. We worked relentlessly, learning from the best local shipwrights and pouring everything we had into this rebuild. It took four years of sweat, setbacks, and unwavering commitment, but today, Yabá is more than just a boat, she’s our home, our biggest adventure, and the proof that crazy dreams can come true. Now, we’re sailing into the unknown, exploring remote islands, embracing the unpredictable and sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between. Halfway there. We've been working on the electric issues off and on for three weeks. It's been pretty tough for me, since this is mostly over my head and I'm learning as I go. A BIG thanks to every online who was giving me advice as I went on facebook and r/mechanicadvice We have a no spark issue on a 1992 Dodge Ram Camper with a 360 5.9L V8. Bought it then passed its safety and got about 5 km from the garage after turning it off and back on three times, and coming up on an intersection it cut out. After unplugging the ECU connection and reconnecting it it fired up again and ran fine for a day then died and hasn't started since. ECU is definitely fried, and it seems like our charge isolator was also screwed, which may have cause over charging from the upgraded alternator. Additionally the cabin batteries were disconnected and frozen, so most likely toast. This may have all started there, which caused the isolator to fry, then the ECU and potentially other electronics.
If ever a film needed a better thumbnail, then its this one... but there is not much you can show that will make this any more interesting than it is I'm afraid. So this is just a short update on how we fixed the hole! Thanks to Mads at Sail Life for the scraper tip, check out his channel for loads of great boat maintenance ideas. This week’s guest yacht is a new relatively new brand from an old and respected mark that has shaken up catamaran design with multiple innovations. The Bali 4.8! Today we are going to 1. Review its specifications, pricing and layout against three similar new vessels 2. Do a full tour asking, “What would Sylvia say?” 3. Naval Gaze at an innovation and/or adjustment that might make life aboard easier 4. Have a look at the used market for 3-5 year old comparables 5. And finally give it a “Dave Score” and compare the result with all our previously reviewed yachts. As always, we have a wine pairing with our yacht of choice and this week we head over to the Mediterranean coast of France just north of Barcelona and the home of Bali Catamarans in Canet en Roussillon. Chateau Lauriga Grande Reserve Cuvee Jean 2017. Chateau Lauriga Coovay Jean 91 Points! Vivino 96% match Described as a decadent blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. Château Lauriga was originally an authentic family domain, which had long been in the hands of the French-Catalan family Clar. A few years ago, Jean-Claude Mas had the opportunity to take over the family domain. The Carignan, Grenache, Syrah grapes come from the sandy vineyards of the Côtes des Catalanes in the south of France. After the manual harvest, the grapes undergo a fermentation with regular pumping to obtain more color and tannins. The fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature. The wine then undergoes a maturation of 6 months on French and American oak, partly used. The self-supported framework provides shade without the use of inhibiting support poles in the back of the boat to interfere with boating activities such as fishing, boarding and docking. Versatile mounting options include surface-mount or fully integrated installations, along with arched roller designs that seamlessly extend shade as a natural extension of a boat. The SureShade ATF automated tele-frame shade utilizes a patented telescoping tubular framework to automatically extend or retract canvas at the touch of a button. The shade is electrically wired to a switch (typically at the helm) that initiates extension or retraction. Designed specifically for the marine environment, this electric power-driven shade system can be installed on any boat or yacht with sufficient overhead structure (such as a hardtop, arch or bridge). All of our ATF shades now feature our “Silent Glide” technology to operate with virtually no sound! Boats featuring our legacy ATF shade may also upgrade to our latest silent glide technology with the purchase of an upgrade kit.
In this episode we jump in to the incoming tidal stream in the pass at Fulaga. Fulaga is surrounded by a barrier reef, so this passage is the main channel that allows the current to flow in and out of the lagoon during a tidal change. Riding the current gives us a great view of all sorts of marine life, and the coral garden on the inside of the reef resulting from the exchange of water is astounding! Later, the crews of Koro Vita, Ventana, and Wild Thing gather on a secluded white sand beach and have a sunset BBQ and campfire. Next, we participate in the delivery of supplies to the villages and have a tour around the largest village. This village has it's own tropical food supply, and we sip from coconuts using natural straws. Thanks for following!
