We stay a couple of days between the big yachts in the Bay of Saint Tropez and Port Grimaud, where we meet our friends. After a magnificent firework show we sail to Les Porquerolles, Le Camargue and finally towards La Grand Motte and Le Grau-du-Roi. Only 75 miles to go to Canet where the cross beam will be replaced.

The painters weren't the only ones getting messy, Mey managed to paint most of her face as she tackled the various deck lockers. In early May I was invited by Darren Newton, of Dazcat and Multimarine fame, to crew for him in the MOCRA National Championships. This was in D1, his first design, and now over 30 years old. However it had been neglected by various owners and had only just got back into Darren's ownership. So there was a lot of "what sail is in this bag?" and then "how do we sheet it?" etc. Also sailing with us on the longer coastal races was Oriel Butcher of Dazcat Media who took this video as we drifted along the Cornish coast. I have posted before about how much fun it is to sail along in near calm conditions. Most boats would be motoring, we sailed at much more than windspeed. Nightmares only come at night. When two major thunderstorms combine you end up with a super storm, and at midnight it hit us hard. With a peak of 47 knots and 2 meter waves pushing us back into the rocks we thought we wouldn't make it, but the anchor was holding for now. Unfortunately for 3 boats in our anchorage their anchors didn't hold, and when they tried to leave the bay the real chaos started... #electricsailboat #liveaboard #classicboat
