After six months at the dock, we finally set sail again—but our first passage was rough! The crossing to the Bahamas was anything but smooth, and we ended up spending Christmas Eve and Christmas in Bimini, where it was super rolly. Not exactly the peaceful holiday we imagined! From there, we made our way through the islands, ringing in the New Year in Nassau and exploring the Berry Islands, surrounded by massive cruise ships. It feels amazing to be back on the boat, soaking up the sun, crystal-clear waters, and island life. In diesem Video nehmen wir euch mit auf unsere Reise in die Werft! 🚤 Wir werden mit einem Travellift aus dem Wasser gehoben und entdecken, dass unser Unterwasserschiff mit Pocken zugewuchert ist – keine Überraschung, dass uns das sicherlich einige Geschwindigkeit gekostet hat! 🐚🛠️ Wir beginnen damit, das alte Antifouling abzuschleifen und bereiten das Unterwasserschiff für eine Epoxidbeschichtung vor, um den Rumpf wieder in Top-Zustand zu bringen. 🧽🔧 Zusätzlich erneuere ich die Fugen, die über die Jahre beansprucht wurden, und schleife das Gelcoat an, um die Oxidation zu entfernen. ⚙️ Natürlich brauchen wir für diese Arbeiten eine Arbeitsrüstung, da es ordentlich zur Sache geht! 💪 Aber was wäre eine Werftarbeit ohne ein bisschen Chaos? 🔧 **Come migliorare l’efficienza della tua barca?** Nautica in Pillole – Segui il canale! Spesso ci si pone le domande sbagliate troppo tardi. Partiamo da tre pilastri fondamentali per ottimizzare la resa della tua imbarcazione: 1️⃣ **La carena** È la prima cosa da curare. Ricevo tantissime domande su eliche e prestazioni, ma la verità è che se non hai la carena pulita, puoi scordarti l’efficienza. La carena va fatta **ogni anno**, anche se la barca viene usata poco. Una carena sporca significa consumi doppi e velocità dimezzata. Tienila in perfetto stato! 2️⃣ **I pesi a bordo** Il peso incide tantissimo. Spesso carichiamo la barca come se fosse un garage: attrezzatura sub, barbecue da giardino, metri e metri di catena d’ancoraggio… ma tutto questo appesantisce l’imbarcazione, aumentando i consumi e riducendo le prestazioni. Spazio e peso non sono la stessa cosa. Occhio a cosa porti a bordo! 3️⃣ **L’elica** Solo **dopo** aver sistemato carena e pesi ha senso parlare di elica. Il passo dell’elica è come il cambio di un’auto: più lungo = più fatica; più corto = più giri. Non esiste l’elica “giusta in assoluto”: esiste quella **ottimale per te**, per la tua barca, il tuo carico e il tuo uso. Una coppia che fa solo trasferimenti veloci ha esigenze diverse da una famiglia che fa sport acquatici. L’elica va scelta su misura. 🎯 Conclusione: Cura la carena, bilancia i pesi, scegli l’elica giusta per il tuo utilizzo. In this episode we started with a decent plan to replace the drain (gray water) lines from the Forward shower and sink to a shower sump. When we bought the boat the shower drained to the bilge and the sink went directly overboard in the forward head. That was fine for the sink, but I am not a fan of the shower draining into the bilge as you get hair and soap scum in that part of the boat. I don't want to chance either of those things causing an issue with a bilge pump that is critical to the safety of the boat. So it was with this goal we started to design and install it but I received fairly short notice of a need for a business trip to Melbourne Australia. This video is the start of the shower sump, the start of my trip to Melbourne and a little bit of video of Chasity at a birthday party where they did indoor paintball shooting at each other. Are there any similarities between our St. Lucia quarantine and our China quarantine? Our two-week quarantine started upon our arrival on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, where our sailboat is undergoing phase out at the Moorings base. This is our second monitored quarantine in the past 9 months. The first was in Qingdao, China back in March, and the two quarantines have many more differences than similarities some of which we will highlight in this video. The quarantine in St. Lucia is basically staying in an all-inclusive resort for two weeks and enjoying all that resort life has to offer from BINGO nights and live entertainment to motorized and non-motorized water toys and island excursions. We are SO glad that we had our China quarantine first and THEN the St. Lucia quarantine. If the reverse, it would have been quite a challenge to endure! The Bay Garden Hotels have been wonderful and we are thankful to have found them in the 30 or so island-approved quarantine hotels. El sábado 17 de abril se disputó la regata Lagisquet organizada por el Club Regatas La Plata con un total de 22 inscriptos. Se dieron condiciones de viento flojo, en torno a los 10 nudos y con un rio planchado. La tripulación siempre dispuesta a participar de las regatas y disfrutar de un buen momento haciendo lo que nos gusta, a bordo del Adrenalina.
