Wir sind schon ganz aufgeregt, denn BALD WIRD GEHEIRATET 💍❤️ Bald wollen wir diesen großen Schritt für uns Segler wagen und mit unserem 17 Jahre alten Segelboot über den Atlantik in die die Karibik segeln. Von Portugal über die Kanaren und die Kapverdischen Inseln sind das Luftlinie knapp 4000 Seemeilen (≈ 7400 km). Und das nur unter Segeln mit einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von vielleicht 4-5 Knoten (≈ 7-9km/h). Das wird also einige Zeit dauern. Wir schätzen, dass wir ungefähr 40 Tage (durchgehend Tag und Nacht ohne Pausen) bis in die Karibik brauchen werden. Genauso wie ein Haus, muss man auch ein Boot über die Jahre pflegen und ab und zu mal ein paar Teile reparieren und austauschen. Und vielleicht muss man den Zustand eines Bootes auch noch ein kleines bisschen besser im Auge behalten als den eines Hauses, denn wenn da wirklich mal ein wichtiges Teil gerostet ist und kaputt geht… und das im schlimmsten Fall auch noch genau mitten im Atlantik und 1000 Seemeilen (≈ 1850 km) entfernt vom nächsten Land… naja, jedenfalls nicht so gut. Deshalb sind wir ja im Moment auch auf der Werft, um JEDES wichtige Teil ganz genau unter die Lupe zu nehmen. Aber die Bootsprojekte werden immer mehr... 🥵🫣 Du möchtest Teil der OHANA Crew sein? Sailing in the Caribbean – meaning the Lesser Antilles – involves a considerable amount of organizational effort in some cases, as clearing customs and immigration is always required when moving between islands. This is because many of the islands are independent states or at least separate territories with their own administrative and customs systems. To my knowledge, there are currently five different procedures in the Lesser Antilles, which are applied depending on the state or territory. These range from fully digital solutions and hybrid systems to classic paper-based processes and, in most cases, personal visits to the authorities. Many sailors find the first steps in the French system particularly challenging, as it uses its own procedures, terminology, and, in some cases, special links that are not easily accessible or difficult to find. To make matters worse, some screens have only been partially translated into English. I hope this video has provided some initial guidance and helped some people to use the various systems. The video does not claim to be exhaustive, nor can it be adapted to situations that are sometimes subject to change. It is based on my knowledge of the past few years up to 2026.
