When Skipper Chloe first met Yannick Chancerelle on the beach in Moorea, his passion for protecting coral reefs left a lasting impression. 🪸 After joining us as a Skipper volunteer, @chloesailsfast sat down with Yannick to learn more about his work at CRIOBE. In this video interview, they explore his work on monitoring reef health, track bleaching, and develop innovative ways to study coral resilience. Together, they highlight both the urgency and the hope in protecting these fragile ecosystems. #Skipper #OceanConservation #CoralReefs #ProtectWhatYouLove
The night started with everything reefed, ready for the front we thought would hit. But it didn’t. Instead, we were left with barely any wind, sails flopping around, moving slowly and awkwardly through the water. One of those frustrating nights where you’re prepared for something that just doesn’t show up. Then in the morning… it did. The front finally arrived and the wind picked up quickly to around 25–30 knots. The sea built up, the boat started moving a lot more, and suddenly everything felt a bit intense. It was hard to do much. We spent a lot of time just on the floor, because that was the most stable place to be. During the day it eased off a little, which gave us a chance to recover a bit, catch our breath, and reset. But by the evening, it started building again. So we’re heading into another night that probably won’t involve much sleep. But… it’s all part of it. 🌊 ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology. ► Full test in Multihulls World N°205. ► McConaghy stole the show at Cannes with this first MC68 in a Flybridge version. Designed for making long passages in complete comfort with a crew, this model is capable of reaching double-digit averages, as evidenced by the numerous carbon elements incorporated into the construction and the deep daggerboards. ► At Port Canto, the MC68 set our mouths watering with its ultra-modern coachroof and its lines kept tight thanks to a continuous chine. You can see that the step in the deck - a McConaghy hallmark - is there, but it’s much more discreet than on the “smaller” models. Also noteworthy: the double front doors, access to the nacelle from the side-deck, and the twin helm stations set as far aft as possible on the flybridge. The luxurious interior of the MC68 that we tested offers three guest cabins and one crew cabin as standard, with a four or even five double cabin layout also available. ► Technical specifications: Builder: McConaghy Architects: Ker Yacht Design Length: 67’11” (20.7 m) Beam: 30’2” (9.2 m) Draft: 4’7”/12’4” (1.4/3.75 m) Upwind sail area: 2,766 sq ft (257 m²) Water: 264 US gal (1,000 l) Fuel: 422 US gal (1,600 l) Engines: 2 x 80 HP ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! This coast is starting to look familiar. But wait, what's this black sentinel? It's the Pigeon Point lighthouse, presumably undergoing some refurbishment. Motoring up past Laguna de las Francas. A sea monster attacked Jonah and stopped us dead in the water. The engine has quit. But this monster is no match for the trusty Gerber...

I took a 91-year-old woman sailing. She came with four generations of her family—the youngest just one year old. She lives independently, plays golf and tennis, writes haiku… and told her son she wants to get her captain’s license. At 91. Most of my work explores aging, place, and community in Japan. This is what “still moving forward” looks like. I’m Lowell Sheppard, 71 — sailor, author, and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. Founder of the Never Too Late Academy and Senior Adviser to the International Academic Forum. After seven years of Pacific Solo, I’m continuing the journey across Japan — exploring longevity, community, and what it means to live well over time. → https://nevertoolateacademy.com
In this heartfelt episode, we sail along the rugged coast of Calabria to discover the hidden gems of Crotone and Le Castella. While the breathtaking sight of the Aragonese Castle on Punta Cannone steals the show, it’s the warmth of the people that truly defines this journey. From a generous salumeria padrone who treated us to mozzarella and prosciutto tastings, to a local homeowner who opened their doors (and hearts) to share the town's rich history, this adventure became so much more than just sailing. Come aboard as we uncover the soul of southern Italy—one anchorage and one unexpected encounter at a time. Our channel is all about sailing the Mediterranean. We help anyone who wants to sail the Mediterranean, whether they are brand new at it, aspiring to go, or just arm-chair traveling. We generally post about our adventures with beautiful scenery and helpful hints, but we also post about the challenges too and how we resolve them. Attitude is everything!
