The Ocean Race Europe Tracker has just had an update thanks to PredictWind, and now looks at routing for the boats, but it doesn't yet have VMG or VMC. Here's a little video as to what these acronyms are, and why I think it's important that they're shown on the tracker. As promised in the video, here is the link to The Ocean Race Europe Tracker: https://www.theoceanrace.com/en/racing/tracker And here is the link to the excellent Wikipedia page about VMG and VMC: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity_made_good Holcim-PRB Photo by Anne Beaugé / The Ocean Race

As luck would have it, we managed to time our stay in Fernandina Beach during the annual “Dickins on Centre” festival. The streets were festively lighted, crafts tents lined the walks full of wares, bakeries hawking their sweets, performers at every corner, here a Christmas tree, there a Christmas tree, locals and tourist meandering the streets in Victorian garb, drones lighting up the night sky, and hot cocoa stands everywhere. It did not take long for me to realize that we were stuck in a holiday Hallmark movie with no way out, oh the horror,,, the horror of it all . . . Merry Christmas everyone. This episode kicks off with a BIG surprise you won’t want to miss.. 🐠 Become a Patreon + help save the ocean 🌊👇 https://www.patreon.com/c/SailingAmi After some time apart, we’re finally back together on the boat - but not before a few unexpected repairs slow us down and keep us on our toes. We then head to a remote island steeped in shipwreck history - including the infamous SS Gothenburg, wrecked in 1875. The story is a powerful reminder of just how ruthless and unpredictable the sea can be. And lastly, we stumble upon a hidden waterfall tucked away in a secret spot. With no one else around, a spontaneous skinny dip was pretty much unavoidable.. 0:00 - SURPRISE! 0:28 - Intro 1:37 - Leaving Airlie 2:29 - It's Broken.. 3:59 - Sailing to Holbourne Island 6:09 - SHIPWRECK STORIES 8:53 - Sailing to Cape Upstart 10:32 - We Found a SECRET Waterfall? 15:53 - Coconuts! 16:15 - Sailing to Magnetic Island 16:55 - Next Week! #sailboat #sailing #shipwreck
This Christmas, instead of decorations or lights, we gave our boat something it desperately needed — a quieter engine room 🎄⛵ After living with constant engine noise while motoring, we finally decided to tackle engine room soundproofing on our ex-racing yacht. In this episode we show how we installed sound insulation inside the engine space to dramatically reduce vibration and noise on board. This is one of those upgrades you don’t always see — but you definitely feel. A quieter boat means less fatigue, better conversations underway, and a much more comfortable life aboard, especially when cruising as a family. If you’re refitting a sailboat, upgrading an older yacht, or wondering whether engine room soundproofing is worth it, this video walks you through the process step by step — including the challenges of working in tight spaces on a performance boat. 🎁 Sometimes the best Christmas presents aren’t shiny — they’re silent. ⛵ We are Sailing NV We’re a sailing family refitting an ex-Vendée Globe Open 66 into our home on the ocean. We’re in Tahiti to knock out a long list of critical projects and errands before sailing off to the Tuamotus. A rare weather window has opened for an eastbound passage, and we don’t want to miss it—which means five days of nonstop action. From diagnosing engine issues and resolving a rigging problem, to securing a new fuel certificate, handling visa and boat extensions, visiting doctors, provisioning, and squeezing in time with friends… can we get it all done in time? #sailinglife, #liveaboard, #tahiti, #tuamotus, #sailingadventure, #boatlife, #cruisinglife, #sailingvlog, #offshoresailing, #weatherwindow, #sailboatlife, #bluewater NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY?
