In this episode, we prepare for two major weather systems, including one that could become a tropical cyclone. Anchored in the northern part of Tahanea among a maze of bommies, keeping our chain clear while rotating 180 degrees is no small task. Amid the chaos and stress, we find a rare moment of calm to jump in the water—and witness something truly incredible. We became only the fifth people in the world to photograph this amazing natural phenomenon! #Tahanea #CyclonePrep #SailingAdventure #UnderwaterPhotography #RarePhenomenon #OceanLife #SailingLife #TropicalCyclone #AdventureAfloat #MarineWildlife #TravelByBoat #ExtremeSailing #mobulaterapacana #gardeneels NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? Oceano e Bezos rimborserebbero comunque i costi. [ KRAKEN YACHTS ] Make sure you check out Kraken's YouTube channel: @KrakenYachts And their website: https://krakenyachts.com/ Sailing around the world is risky and no matter how hard you try, you’re never going to completely eliminate that risk. But what if you could buy a boat that eliminated as much risk as humanly possible, without compromising comfort. Well then you’d be buying a very expensive boat Designing and building a Bluewater boat is always a compromise between three things; Seaworthiness, comfort, and affordability. For most of human history, Seaworthiness was by far the most important factor when choosing a boat for long distance voyaging. But today the vast majority of new “bluewater” boats are designed from the ground up, to be sold at boat shows. Seaworthiness is something that is not very marketable because green sailors find it hard to recognize at a glance. So boats that value seaworthiness struggle to compete when their interiors are smaller and their price tags are bigger, than all the other boats at the show. But there is one up and coming boat builder that refuses to even go to boat shows for one simple reason. Kraken yachts, lead by it’s founder, Dick Beaumont, have decided that they will stop at nothing to build the most seaworthy, and yet very comfortable, long distance blue water cruiser in the world. This week we had the chance to tour the Kraken yard here in Turkey as well as to do a full review of their flagship model, the Kraken 50. So what exactly do you get when you spend over a million dollars on a bluewater boat? And, the question that’s been in our minds ever since we did this tour, is it time for us to upgrade? There are days in Alaska where you set out with a simple idea… and end up discovering something that feels almost unreal. During a Southeast tour aboard the Alaskan Gypsy with our friend Atz Kilcher, we decided to search for a natural carbonated spring hidden somewhere in the remote wilderness of Southeast Alaska. What started as a wild idea turned into an unforgettable adventure - rowing without a motor, trekking through mudflats, following the smell of sulfur… and finally finding it. A bubbling spring, straight from the earth. Naturally carbonated water in the middle of nowhere. It tasted like mineral-rich sparkling water… a little wild, a little raw, and completely unforgettable. Along the way: elk sightings, deep Alaskan history, old homesteading knowledge, and the kind of experience that reminds you why we live this life. This is Alaska. Unfiltered. 👉Watch Atz Kilcher’s channel for his storytelling, music, and the deeper rhythm of life that inspires it all: https://youtube.com/@atzkilcherofficial?si=VLY0IxsOKawHr3Jz #Alaska #AtzKilcher #Homesteading #WildWater #OffGridLiving #AlaskanGypsyLife ⏱️ CHAPTERS 00:00 Atz kicks it off (legendary intro 😂) 00:48 Rowing in without a motor 03:15 The mission: find carbonated water 04:00 Following the sulfur smell 06:30 Crossing mudflats & first signs 10:10 Wildlife encounter (elk!) 13:00 “Perrier dance” moment 👀 14:20 We FOUND the spring 15:30 First taste of natural sparkling water 17:00 Filling bottles from the earth 19:30 What it actually tastes like 22:00 “Alaskan Gypsy Sparkling Water” idea 😂 24:00 Building up the spring flow 28:30 Walking into the Tongass 33:00 Could there be hot springs too? 37:30 Exploring beyond the spring 41:00 The long way back 48:00 That was a real adventure

A couple of explorers, modern-day documentarians, and cultivators of curiosity. We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us. Things We're Most Curious About... GETTING OFF-GRID Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. So self-reliance and sustainable living are a must. We've learned heaps about renewable energy, managing waste, creating safe drinking water and foraging for food. We carefully manage our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so. TALKING TO STRANGERS People are busy (even on remote islands) and travelers are a dime a dozen. It takes time to talk to strangers, and even more time to have a real connection. Going the extra mile to get to know someone is a commitment. Which is why these are our most treasured experiences. Setting off into the world with curiosity as our guide and nature as our compass. We talk to strangers and accept hospitality without fear or reservations. Both giving and receiving.
