► Essai complet dans Multicoques Mag N°233. ► La Tortue 147 ne ressemble décidément pas vraiment à un multicoque de série… Ce catamaran-concept, apologie de la slow life, affiche en effet un design et des aménagement absolument uniques, avec sa nacelle qui rappelle une carapace de tortue, ses grands hublots façon vitraux, son siège de table à cartes suspendu et sa distribution des cabines qui rappelle celle d’un petit chalet de montagne. Même ambiance surprenante à l’arrière, où un modeste balcon suspendu tient lieu de cockpit. On est évidemment impressionné par les vitrages intégrés façon diamant au fond de la nacelle, pour finir la visite à peine surpris par la présence d’une belle plante verte dont la découpe du pot a été prévue dès la construction… Cette dernière, justement, a été assurée en Tunisie : elle adopte l’aluminium semi-épais pour une résistance optimale aux impacts. La carène présente deux spécificités : un bulbe est greffé sur chaque étrave de façon à amortir le tangage, et les élancements sont particulièrement importants à l’arrière. Là aussi, le but des architectes est d’offrir une plate-forme le plus stable possible, y compris en longitudinal. Deux ballasts de 1 200 litres chacun sont également prévus à l’arrière. Les longs quillons assortis aux skegs de safrans autorisent l’échouage. Ghio, Spanu and Manowiecki seal titles on Finals Day in Jeri - Mathis Ghio and Maddalena Spanu have been crowned 2025 World Cup champions. It’s the fourth successive title for the Frenchman who has been the fleet’s dominant figure since the competition’s inception. For the 19 year old Italian, it tops off a year of remarkable success that’s also seen her become Formula Wing European and World Champion. She also won the Women’s title here in Jeri. The Men’s title was won by Kamil Manowieski who celebrates his second successive win of the season-ending event in Brazil. The Pole can be proud of a dominating performance in tough conditions.
The Ocean Race Europe will take place between 10th August and 21st September 2025, following a debut event in the summer of 2021. The racing is in IMOCA yachts, the same as in the Vendée Globe, but this time with four crew and an OBR (On Board Reporter) who will document the action on board. It will build on the foundations of the inaugural race and will be held under the banner of “Connecting Europe” with a race course that stretches from the Baltic Sea, through the North Sea and English Channel, into the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean before a finish in Boka Bay, Montenegro - the first time The Ocean Race will compete on the Adriatic Sea. The start is in Kiel, Germany, and there are stopovers in Portsmouth in the UK, a fly-by in Matosinhos / Porto in Portugal, then in to the Mediterranean and on to Cartagena in Spain, Nice in France, Genova in Italy, followed by the final leg round to Boka Bay in Montenegro. Seven teams are taking part: Team Malizia skippered by Boris Herrmann, Team Holcim - PRB skippered by Rosalin Kuiper, Team Paprec Arkéa skippered by Yoann Richomme, Team Be Water Positive skippered by Scott Shawyer, Allagrande Mapei Racing skippered by Ambrogio Beccaria, Biotherm skippered by Paul Meilhat and Team AMAALA skippered by Alan Roura. After two years on the hard, countless projects, and more than a few unexpected setbacks, ROAM finally leaves the boatyard. Having a Starlink mini on your boat transforms your life, well it has ours! Starlink means we can work on our YT channel, be constantly connected if we want to, even in the middle of an ocean ( which is a bit freaky!) Have facetime calls with the family whenever we want, always have comprehensive animated weather models not sketchy GRIB files, watch Netflix etc etc The mini goes a step further than that because it is portable, so we can simply unclip it from the boat and take it with us if we go on a road trip, we simply use one of the many great battery power banks available for the mini now ( links to the ones we showed at the bottom of the page) We didn't go into specifics of the cost in the video because it actually depends on where you register the Starlink, this determines the cost they decide to charge. Our monthly charge is 4,867.64 Columbian pesos ( thats £108.35 or $145.80us ) Thats for Roam Unlimited. We choose roam unlimited because with that contract we can flick the switch to 'Ocean' mode when we are more than 12nm offshore and still have connection. While on ocean mode we pay $2 (us) per GB but that's just for the period we are offshore, as soon as we are 12nm from land again we switch it back to our unlimited plan. checkout Peakdo who make that very neat clip on power bank here; https://www.peakdo.com/peakdo-linkpower-2-power-bank-for-starlink-mini-p6885437.html and the XTAR 158 is the biggest capacity you are allowed to carry on a plane so useful for maximum power. Also as I said in the video if the XTAR had been available when we fitted the mini I would have used it to power the Starlink full time instead of buying the Victron Pheonix inverter. It would have been easier to fit as I could have it closer, it would just need to be close to a usb socket to keep it charged up. This would be a vert effiecient way of setting it up and if the XTAR was just in a cupboard or something then you could still take it with you for road trips.
