We have been all setup for Christmas on the boat now for a few weeks. The harbor we are in now has a nice Christmas Boat Parade however it was scheduled for the day we returned from Vacation so we didn't participate. We did however decorate the boat on the outside by running colored lights around the entire boat from stem to stern along the pulpits and lifelines. We also ran white lights inside the cockpit and in the evenings we would play Christmas music so those walking down the street to the local restaurants could hear it. It was pretty cool and was always nice to keep us in the Christmas spirit. Additionally, we have a very small 2 foot Christmas tree that we decorated and put on a small table in the front of the Salon. We hung the stockings from the Port Catches in the Salon and it really made it feel nice and 'Christmassy' down below. Deb also made a nice piece of Garland that she hung on the arch between the Salon and NavStation & Galley. It looks great. I have heard several different versions of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" but I figured this would be a nice variation to it. http://www.onlinedivegear.com.au http://www.divingadelaide.com.au The Glenelg Blocks are a well known dive site, but not many people dive it from shore. The blocks, which are located about 600m off shore from popular Glenelg Beach, are obviously a fair swim out from the beach and because the jetty doesn't have a lot of life on it, the blocks and jetty isn't a popular shore dive. On a day of flat calm seas, blue skies and the sun high in the sky, Kingsley, Brett and Ron decided to have a look under the jetty and make the swim to the blocks to have a look around. As this dive site is only 5m. deep and so close to shore, most divers we know rather do a different dive site, instead of the blocks (and if you've paid your dollars for one of the dive charters to take you out, that makes a lot of sense). The blocks is a great training site though and it reminded us of Port Noarlunga Reef in a lot of aspects, such as fish life, depth, growth and more. In between the jetty and the blocks (which is about 500m), there is not a fish to be seen. Well, maybe one or two, but not very many. However, besides the algae there are heaps of crabs, plenty of nudibranchs, seastars and other small marine life (we even found a pipefish) to be found here, so if you are going to do this dive, make sure you keep your eyes open. If you follow straight west on your compass from the jetty out, you will cover the area where the old jetty used to be. Besides heaps of lead (sinkers), there are quite a few bits and pieces of the jetty to be seen down here. Don't expect to see the complete remnants of the old jetty to be seen down there though, as most of it must have simply washed ashore over the years. The visibility was pretty good a little bit further out (about 8m), we were surprised by the temperature which was already up at 21 degrees in the shallows and 20 degrees near the blocks in mid-December and all in all, we would consider this a good dive site, considering that it's literally on our doorstep. The first island ever commissioned by the British as a Naval vessel during the Napoleonic Wars in the early 1800's. Used by the British to take a tactical advantage over the French fleet stationed at Ford de France on Martinique and intercept all the supply ships heading for the garrison. After a year and half of having the fleet harrassed by the British, the French commander Villeneuve dispatched an enormous fleet to take back the rock by force! Giratina distruttiva a Natale

1997 ging ein langgehegter Traum von mir in Erfüllung: einmal mit einem Segelboot auf dem Atlantik zu segeln. Mit einer HI8 Kamera an Bord und einem Schnellsiedekurs im Videofilmen meines Freundes Niko ging es dann los. Den alten Schnitt habe ich neu vertont und leicht aufpoliert. Damit diese schöne Erinnerung nicht verblasst.
