Finally, after several weeks of work and a couple of trial runs, that did not work out so well, Karl and me have left Shelter Bay Marina with my sister on bord. And this time for real. There is no coming back :). We went on a short coastal trip to Portobelo, which is around 20nm from Shelter Bay but still took us seven hours because of wind and waves from the front. There we stayed two days to wait for the rain to pass and then went on to Panamarina, which is close to Puerto Lindo and Isla Linton. Now it's time to explore the area... Part One (days1,2&3 )Sailing travel log of our summer trip to the massive, serene and beautiful Lake Oahe in north central South Dakota amongst the Lakota territories. Winds were calm and light, becoming stronger every day of the trip! This is a wonderful lake, local sailors at Spring Creek Marina were very open, friendly and helpful, even supplying us with charts full of navigation hazards or points of interest. We love the fact that we explore various waters and differing environments with our own sailboat--she's the perfect hybrid vessel for our needs. This lake can be difficult with big water characteristics but we wholeheartedly believe it --worth the journey.
