It was an incredibly exciting morning at the New York Yacht Club at Harbour Court as teams gathered for the first time to register and weigh-in for the 2015 ROLEX New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup. Today, the international Corinthian teams received their sails, yachts and went out for their first sail on the Swan 42s. Tomorrow, the teams will meet on the water for the first day of offical practice races.

After a six-hour sail/motor from the Italian island of Sardinia, we eventually reached the lovely sandstone cliffs of southern Corsica. The entrance to Bonifacio is one of those that you can’t easily spot by the naked eye. You have to rely on maps or your plotter to find the green and red channel markers. And once you find them, you’re led into a narrow cavern with cliffs reaching high on either side. An important part of the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival is the Edensaw 2 day Boatbuilding Challenge. This year 5 teams took part, two 14ft racing dinghies, a coracle, a plywood rowing dory and a traditional dory being built entirely with hand tools Construction started 9am Friday morning, finish 1pm Sunday. This is a video record of the first days progress. The items I need to bring the installation up to code didn't show up. That's okay :) I still have to finish the box. I'm really looking forward to having a working stove! That'll make living aboard much more convenient. Summer is over and it's starting to get colder. Soon a hot meal will be a huge moral booster :-)
