Natürlich haben wir das Mietauto auch genutzt, um unseren Jahrestag in Arguineguin in einem authentischen Fischrestaurant mit Seezunge und Papageifisch zu begehen. Auch nutzten wir es zu profanen Dingen wie Einkaufen und dem Füllen der Gasflaschen. Vor allem haben wir aber Gran Canaria kennengelernt und auf Widerruf zwei Entscheidungen getroffen: erstens werden wir Ende Juni direkt auf der Nordroute nach Teneriffa und nicht mehr nach Süden segeln. Und zweitens haben wir das Gefühl, uns doch einen recht ordentlichen Überblick über die Insel verschafft zu haben, sodass wir uns parallel zu unserem Sprachkurs in den kommenden vier Wochen nunmehr auf die Kultur und Sehenswürdigkeiten von Las Palmas konzentrieren können. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Scanyacht are renowned for designing and crafting yachts that excel not only in their build quality but also in their effortless performance and ease of handling. With all control lines leading back to the cockpit to Lewmar deck gear and stainless-steel Andersen winches, there is also the option to utilise either a self-tacking or overlapping headsail. Mezzaluna is a 2-cabin layout with a large V-Berth forward and an enormous aft cabin which utilises the full width of the boat and is dominated by a king-sized bed with private access to the head. The saloon settees double as comfortable single berths making her easily able to accommodate up to six people. The interior boasts precision joinery using beautiful mahogany panelling and denim-coloured settees and upholstery. There is a big navigation station to starboard alongside a walk-through head which can be accessed through either the aft cabin or the saloon. Opposite the navigation station on the portside is an L-shaped galley with a 2 burner gas stove and oven, large top opening fridge and twin basin stainless steel sinks. Mezzaluna’s standing rigging was replaced in 2018 and she also had a new mainsail and No.1 Genoa fitted in the same year courtesy of highly regarded local sailmaker Craig Phillips. She is supplied with Selden mast and boom with boom bag and lazy jacks, a Selden Rod Kicker boom vang, Selden Furlex headsail furler, Raymarine wind speed and depth instruments and is fitted with the 1.65m keel - ready to both cruise and club race. Nicht dass es uns in Gran Tarajal auf Fuerteventura nicht gefallen hat – nein im Gegenteil – aber irgendwann kommt wohl immer das unstete Gefühl auf, dass es nun Zeit ist, weiterzuziehen. ▬ Über diesen Film ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 06:00 Uhr wecken und Anker auf bevor die Sonne über dem Horizont aufgegangen ist. Wir haben 55 nm nach Las Palmas vor uns, mit der Option ggf. in der Marina abgewiesen zu werden. Mehrere Reservierungsversuche per eMail in den vergangenen Wochen waren vergeblich. Die Muelle Deportivo de Las Palmas macht generell keine Reservierungen, entscheidet nach Verfügbarkeit im Moment der Ankunft. Zudem ist das nördlich angrenzende Ankerfeld im Sommer gesperrt. Im Fall der Fälle haben wir also einen zusätzlichen weiten Weg zu einer anderen Marina vor uns. Kaum sind wir aus der Ankerbucht, frischt der Wind auch auf. Wir gehen mit dem Groß gleich ins 1. Reff, da Wind aus Nord über 20 kn definitiv angesagt sein wird. Die Fock wird zunächst ganz ausgerollt. Noch haben wir Landabdeckung und kaum Welle. Wir halten gut Abstand zur Küste, da wir von fiesen brechenden Wellen auf dem Flach vor der Südwestecke von Fuerteventura gehört haben. Hier steigt der Meeresgrund von 2.000 m Tiefe auf 30 m an. Der Schwell aus Nord trifft sich hier mit einem Schwell aus Südost – kurz, das muss man nicht ausprobieren. Kaum nähern wir uns dem Leuchtturm Jandia stellt sich die angesagte Welle mit 2 – 3 m auch ein. Sie kommt aus Nord aus dem offenen Atlantik und läuft somit quer zu unserem Kurs West 270°. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. It was the first time in nearly two years that the two Dazcat 1495s were to meet on the water under race conditions. The course set for the qualifier to the Lonely Rock Race had to be shortened due to weather conditions and the available window. It turned out to be a perfectly out, covering all points of sail and sail plans - we got the training and workouts we needed! Impressively, over the 120 mile course the 1495s came in just 7 minutes apart with Apollo in the lead making it around in just 12 hours, 34 minutes and two seconds! Well sailed team Apollo. During the upwind leg Hissy Fit clocked a steady 9 - 9.6knots with the wind 20-21 knots at a TWA of 48 degrees. Who dares say catamarans don't go upwind?
