Andrea und Jürgen möchten ihren nächsten Lebensabschnitt auf dem Wasser verbringen und open-end um die Welt segeln. Dafür suchen wir einen Katamaran mit viel Wohnraum und Komfort. Dabei liegt auch klar die Priorität bei der Bootssuche. Er soll einfach zu handeln sein mit allen Leinen am Steuerstand, Eignervariante, nicht zu groß, dennoch möglichst viel Raum bieten mit einem von beiden Seiten zugänglichen Bett. Das kennen wir ja von Centercockpitschiffen, die haben häufig ein Inselbett in der Heckkabine. Bei Katamaranen um die 40 Fuß ist das allerdings nicht Gang und Gebe, da ja die Rümpfe deutlich schmaler sind als der eines Monos. Wir haben während des Beginns der reiseunfreundlichsten Zeit der letzten Jahrzehnte den Markt auf den Kopf gestellt und viele Kontakte spielen lassen, um den richtigen Kat zu finden. Sogar Julia und Markus von @SailingInsieme sind dabei! Es gibt übrigens einen klaren Favoriten und das ist der Lagoon 420, der scheint nämlich alle Anforderungen der beiden zu erfüllen. Dann geschah das Undenkbare: im Ankermanöver im Südwesten vor Guadeloupe haben wir den Backbordpropeller inkl. Ropecutter verloren. ▬ Über diesen Film ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Auf den Yanmar SD 60 Saildrives unseres Katamarans Lagoon 40 MariaNoa sind je ein Flex-O-Fold Faltpropeller montiert. Zusätzlich hatten wir vor der Erstwasserung so genannte Ropestripper von Ambassador Marine England montieren lassen. Da diese Montage mangelhaft war, kam es am Steuerbord-Saildrive vor Barbados zum Schaden, sodass der Faltpropeller demontiert werden musste. Auch die Anoden waren so verbraucht, dass die Demontage notwendig wurde. Bei diesem Propellermodell ist es nicht möglich die Anoden ohne Demontage der Propeller zu tauschen. MariaNoa wurde auf Land gesetzt und bei dieser Gelegenheit durch eine Fachfirma das Antifouling erneuert. Die De- sowie die Remontage der Propeller wollte ich unbedingt selbst durchführen, da ich der Ursache des Schadens auf den Grund gehen wollte. 3 Monate später: Unser kleiner Technikfilm über die Montage der Ropecutter und Propeller war bereits fertiggestellt und zur Veröffentlichung bei YouTube hochgeladen. Dann geschah das Undenkbare: im Ankermanöver vor der Marina Riviere Sens im Südwesten vor Guadeloupe haben wir den Backbordpropeller inkl. Ropecutter verloren. Da ich erst vor 3 Monaten eben diesen Propeller in Martinique selbst montiert habe, befallen mich nun große Selbstzweifel, was ich nicht fachgerecht durchgeführt habe. LEMOLO has been a labor-of-love love-project of mine for the last 10 years. After an engine rebuild, a new rig, and years of daysailing, this old girl is ready for an owner to take her on an adventure. I have all of the parts needed to make this a world cruising yacht, including a watermaker, auto-pilot, and more. This boat is nearly original in that no Frankenstein cuts have been made anywhere on the boat to install any modern components. The original Loran Receiver is still installed. No electronics on this classic bluewater cruiser. I have hundreds of paper charts to cover the world. All wood in this vessel is teak or holly. All metals for componentry are marine-grade bronze. The engine is a fresh water-cooled 3-cylinder BMW D-50 Diesel inboard. The engine runs great and sounds well, but needs to be professionally tuned by a diesel mechanic. The teak veneer decks have worn out and do not leak, but need to be replaced for cosmetic purposes. The hull is solid and does not leak any water, but some blisters ultimately need to be addressed for the longevity of the vessel. Easy restoral, then cruise the world in comfort and style. Am Mittwoch, d. 23.03.2022 konnte ich im Ankermanöver vor der Marina Riviere Sens an der Süd-West-Ecke von Guadeloupe plötzlich nur noch nach Backbord nicht aber nach Steuerbord manövrieren. Nachdem wir doch irgendwie den Anker sicher ausgebracht hatten, stellte sich sehr schnell das Undenkbare heraus: wir hatten den Backbordpropeller verloren. ▬ Über diesen Film ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Nun galt es vor allem die Ersatzteile zu organisieren. Nach einigem hin und her entschied ich mich sowohl den Propeller als auch den RopeCutter direkt bei den jeweiligen Herstellern zu bestellen. Mit Hilfe der Marinieros konnten wir am Montag darauf also am 28.03.2022 in die Marina verholen. Am selben Tag wurden sowohl bei AmbassadorMarine in GB als auch bei Flexofold in DK die entsprechenden Ersatzteile geordert. Nun begann vor allem das große Warten welches wir uns mit Erkundungstouren auf Goudeloupe vertrieben haben. Die Lieferzeiten waren sehr, sehr unterschiedlich und dadurch geprägt, dass es generell kaum möglich ist mit dem jeweiligen Fahrer direkten Kontakt aufzunehmen oder z.B. die Mobilfunknummer zu hinterlegen. So drohte eine Lieferung bereits wieder an den Absender zurückgesandt zu werden, da deren Annahme angeblich zweimal abgelehnt worden sei – wie absurd ist das denn. Aufklärung verschaffte Marina von der Ile Segal mit Ihrem Engagement in französischer Sprache. Herzlichen Dank. Die eine Lieferung dauerte eine gute Woche, die andere 14 Tage. Der Schock saß aber tief als sich herausstellte, dass die eine Lieferung unvollständig war. Allein um dies zu monieren, vergingen wieder 4 Tage – es war zum wahnsinnig werden. One of our biggest fears sailing across oceans is sinking out at sea, along with pirates, lightning, and injury. We hear about boats hitting containers and whales out in the middle of nowhere. We run out of luck 1000 miles from shore and strike a UFO mid ocean during our second transatlantic bluewater crossing. #sailing #yacht #collision More about us at https://www.sweetruca.com After having a collision with a whale in the middle of the night, we have to get in the water mid ocean and inspect the damage to the rudder. So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our boat is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We stopped in Annapolis for a bit to do some more refit work and offshore modifications, then we set off to the open sea. We went to the Bahamas, Miami, US Virgin Islands, BVI, Grenada, Carriacou, St. Maarten, where we enjoyed outdoor adventures, scuba diving, and have now did an Atlantic Crossing to the Azores where we had a chance to fly our DJI drone (and learned how to fly a drone from a boat) and one of our favorite past times, mountain biking. After leaving the Azores we sailed to Tenerife. From there we have left on a huge voyage, transatlantic again, this time to South America as we head for our goal of rounding cape horn to enter the pacific ocean. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / RV. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, and MJ Sailing. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. The Dufour Catamarans 48 is probably not what one would expect to be a sleeper hit a boat show. It's not all that surprising considering Dufour produced the Nautitech line of cats for nearly 2 decades that they might get the itch to re-enter the ring. But I actually walked away fairly impressed. Between the layout, construction and performance (on paper at least) this looks to be one of the more innovative productive catamarans that have come on the market recently. Vivid is an incredible yacht to take you on an adventure, no matter how large or small, that you’ll never forget. Built by Jongert she oozes the pedigree she was built with, she has always been very well loved and maintained and in 2021 is emerging from her latest refit with with a freshly resprayed hull in 2019 she had all new soft furnishing inside and out and is looking amazing. The new neutral coloured cabins are soothing and gives her a whole new feel. In 2020 she came to the UK and cruised on the South Coast, wintering in Portsmouth this winter. Come April 2021 she is heading north up to the West Coast of Scotland basing herself between Clyde and Dunstaffnage before hopefully heading back to the Med late summer to catch the last of the autumn sun. On deck the tender sits at the front of the yacht, when removed, it creates a sunbathing area. Heading inside you enter the pilot house, the rear windows can be lowered to allow the breeze to wave through or if you prefer you can keep them shut and have the area air-conditioned or heated! With two tables she comfortably seats 8, passing through the helm station you go below into the saloon, there is an L shape sofa to the left and a dining table on the right, heading aft there are 2 identical twin cabins with en-suite and at the rear the vast owners cabin with sofa and desk.
