OUR SCORING CATEGORIES 1) BUILD QUALITY - This encompasses both the interior and exterior and the overall quality and durability of items like deck hardware, mechanical systems, decking, windows, cabinetry and hardware, flooring, overall surfaces and materials. 2) SAILABILITY - This focuses primarily on the ergonomics of operating the vessel: the location and orientation of sail handling hardware, helm position and visibility, plus overall performance as reported (these are tried and tested boats, so there is plenty of info out there). That said, the attributes of the foredeck on a cat play heavily into the enjoyment of the boat at anchor. We've been guests on many cats where the kids enjoyed not only bouncing and rolling about on the tramps, but just hanging out and doing their thing, while the adults hang out on the perimeter. This is one of those "extra" spaces on a cat which make it as much a home as a boat, especially if the kids enjoy it. 4) LIVEABILITY - This category encompasses those things that make living on a boat a joy as opposed to a chore. Overall space, intelligent layout, comfort in the lounging areas and the cabins, plentiful storage in numerous areas, a generous galley, easy access to maintenance areas, and simple dinghy lifting for night security and for underway. 5) THE X-FACTORS - This is NOT a typical review category but it should be. This is all about human connection with what is not just a boat, but possibly a home. Do we get the "feels" when we first walk inside? Can we immediately imagine life here and does it makes us smile? A lot of factors play into this and most are not quantifiable. But there are definitely boats that can tick most or even all the boxes, yet still have ZERO X-Factor. If you don't love it, it doesn't matter how perfect it may be on paper. All of these categories will be scored by Loren and I base on 5 thumbs (yeah, it's dumb, but it's also fun) then added together. Inside and outside tour of our 2005 Gemini 105mc catamaran sailboat to be named Holly Belle

This Sunseeker Predator 68 from 2017 is powered by two 1200hp strong MAN V8 diesel engines with low engines hours. She has only been privately used and constantly professionally maintained to a high standard. Nice features are her teak-topped hydraulic submersible boarding platform, a garage which opens at the push of a button housing a Williams 325 Turbojet, her ample teak-laid aft deck and the large lounge areas fore and aft. Although measuring an impressive 21.20m overall, this Predator can easily be steered and manoeuvred thanks to her bow- and stern thruster, joystick steering, Yacht controller system and dynamic positioning system. The Side Power stabilizer system will reduce the roll of the boat and makes a huge difference in comfort. Furthermore, equipped with; a generator, comprehensive Simrad navigation equipment, Besenzoni telescopic hydraulic passerelle, life raft, wetbar with grill, sink, fridge and ice maker, etc. The deck lights, speakers throughout, the elegant deck fittings and the deluxe upholstery complete the picture. The saloon of this Sunseeker Predator 68 is on the same level as the aft deck. The glazing and the view is impressive; by just pushing a button, the salon door and the starboard rear glass can be lowered into the floor and voila: the aft deck and the saloon turn into a vast living space! And by pushing yet another button the enormous electric overhead sunroof can be opened as well. She accommodates up to 6 overnight guests in her 3 cabins and her 3 bathrooms; an impressive full-beam master cabin with vanity desk, settee and dedicated dressing room amidships, a guest cabin with two single beds located to starboard, and an ample VIP cabin located forward. Further to that, there is a crew cabin for two persons with own toilet and shower located aft. Of course; she is fitted out with everything to make your stay on board even more comfortable, like; a high spec air conditioning system, dishwasher, washer/dryer, wine fridge, luxurious finishes, a full entertainment package, and even a sauna feature in one of the bathrooms. In our last episode, we *insisted* that we were not going to buy a boat. In this episode, we will give you a tour of the boat that we absolutely, positively bought. Our boat is a 1990 Catalina 42, with 3 cabins and 2 heads (a naughtical term for a bathroom). We are the fourth owners of her, and previous owners have done a pretty good job of maintaining her as well as updating her systems. Still, when we bought her there were some things (like her battery banks) that needed replacing, and there were other things that we knew we wanted to add to the boat (like solar panels) to make our lives aboard more comfortable and self-sufficient. We will go into some detail about these systems in upcoming episodes, but for now we'll just give you a tour of our floating home! As I say in the video, we would be happy to address any questions that you have about the boat - just leave a comment below and we will either answer it in the comments or we will add a portion to an upcoming video to answer the questions.
