The time has therefore come for Windelo to increase their production capacity (soon 6 units per year). A process which implies in the long term the need to increase the size of the premises and in the immediate future to have deck molds much less greedy in parts (3 as opposed to 21!). The opportunity is therefore perfect to restyle their first two models, the 50 (that will be on show at Cannes) and 54. This mission was logically entrusted to the Barreau/Neuman team, assisted by Charlotte Schiffer. The main idea was to use the wave theme already present on the sides of the hull for the deck. Beyond the cosmetic alterations, the coachroof has been revised to improve drainage and to moderate its square appearance: the forward face has been reworked with two hatches slightly angled aft and inversed. The top of the coachroof now has a “cap” appearance, all the more evident with it now being extended aft. The rear platform and the sugarscoops are also more elegant. The forward cockpit dedicated to sailing maneuvers has been improved. Summers often found them cruising the Channel Islands. The letters home of their cruising adventures and encounters with other early cruisers, like Eric and Susan Hiscock, were the inspiration for the SSCA bulletin. Das Wetter hat sich grundsätzlich geändert. Seit über einer Stunde schüttet es. Blitz und Donner kommen immer näher – der zeitliche Abstand wird immer kürzer. Bei jedem Blitz zucke ich zusammen – ich hasse das. Und plötzlich: Bämm!!!!!! Ohren betäubend laut schlägt ein Blitz in MariaNoa ein. Es stinkt verbrannt. Das 12V-Paneel blinkt chaotisch, das Victron- und das Scheibner-Paneel sind schwarz. Wir haben Schaden in der Elektronik. Welchen Schaden? Keine Ahnung. Wir checken zuerst die Bilgen. Wir scheinen aber keinen Wassereinbruch zu haben. Worst case ist, wenn der Blitz durchschlägt und ein Loch in den Rumpf unterhalb der Wasserlinie schlägt. Die Motoren können nicht gestartet werden, kein Licht in den Räumen. Das Windex liegt in Bruchstücken auf dem Deck verstreut, wir sind also direkt getroffen worden. Wenn ich doch nur mehr Ahnung von Elektronik hätte und wenigstens die Motoren zum Laufen bringen könnte. Mit dem Funkgerät, das eigentlich heile wirkt, können wir niemanden erreichen. Später finden wir auch die VHF-Antenne pulverisiert an Deck. Wir bauen eine Plane über die Motorenräume um irgendwie in ihnen arbeiten zu können. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Nach den vielen Boots Besichtigungen von Blauwasserbooten in den letzten Wochen gibt es wieder Arbeiten an der Ariba. Dieses Mal wird am Motor geschraubt, unserem Perkins Modell 4.108. Der Dieselfilter soll eine Entlüftungsschraube bekommen. Und am Ende zeige ich wie man das Kraftstoffsystem beim Perkins 4.108 entlüftet. Das funktioniert auch bei hartnäckigen Entlüftungsproblemen. Das ist der Geheimtip eines Motoren Mechaniker von Perkins!
