The challenge was to demonstrate that it is possible to break away from the sacrosanct idea of a 40-foot minimum size. The Lagoon 380 did it back in the day, so why not other models? Compared to the 1190, the 1170 offers much greater comfort - and an extra 3 tons of weight that logically comes as the cost. The deck layout features two helm stations at the after end of the hulls. The sail plan is somewhat restricted by the self-tacking jib, though this has the advantage of further simplifying maneuvers. The three-section, pivoting bay window provides excellent circulation between the cockpit and the nacelle. In the port hull, the owner’s cabin offers a beautiful queen-size double berth, set athwartships. The galley is moved to the starboard hull. The first Seawind 1170 was presented at the Annapolis Boat Show, and series production is currently underway in a new factory in Turkey - the manufacturer’s first commercial objective is to establish this new model on the European market. Aus zwei Gründen wollen wir, wie nur wenige hier, einen Zwischenstopp auf den Galapagosinseln machen. Grund #1 ist, dass Galapagos wegen der einmaligen Tierwelt natürlich hochinteressant ist und trotz der immensen Kosten, Erlebnisse bietet, die es auf dieser Welt ganz bestimmt nur einmal gibt. Grund #2 ist, dass dies eine Art Zwischenstopp auf dem langen Törn nach Polynesien darstellt. Insgesamt kann die Fahrt 4 – 6 Wochen dauern. Wenn man diese Etappe um eine Woche verkürzen kann, ist dies sicherlich ein guter Plan. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist, dass wir wissen, dass wir in einer Woche Diesel tanken können. So können wir wesentlich großzügiger motoren als wenn der Diesel bis Französisch Polynesien reichen muss - in einer Gegend, die für ihre Flautengebiete bekannt ist, den s.g. Doldrums. Dafür haben wir uns einen Katamaran gekauft, mit dem wir Anfang März 2021 von der französischen Atlantikküste auf die Barfußroute gestartet sind. Seit vielen Jahren war eine Weltumsegelung mein (Hannes) großer Traum, den ich berufsbedingt zum Renteneintrittsalter verwirklichen wollte. Manchmal kommt das Leben aber anders als man plant. Im Frühjahr 2020 erhielt ich die Diagnose Morbus Parkinson. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Plan International ist ein internationales Kinderhilfswerk. Her owner is passionate about electrical propulsion. He owns a few yachts that have all been converted to be electrical, over the years he gained a lot of experience in converting yachts to be electric. In recent years the yacht was converted from diesel power propulsion to be 100% Electrically powered. The diesel engines were removed and instead 4 Electrical Engines powering 2 shafts were installed. 2 X large SIEMENS high voltage engines for high speed and 2 X Fischer Panda Low voltage engines for Trawling speed. Electric Power is Provided by two large Generators (VOLVO and Fischer Panda) and also supported by 56 solar panels that are installed on the upper areas of the yacht and generate additional clean energy.  She has 4 cabins for 8 guests and a large crew area, at present there is one crew cabin for two, but there is enough space to add an additional crew cabin. There is also a large pantry and crew galley. Her classic wood interior was kept in very good condition, with very little wood fading or damage. Some of the Navigation systems have been renewed to modern equipment. Few changes were made in the hull: Bow shape changed from classic to straight Engel to the water and hydraulic water platform at the stern was installed.
