Madiz is one of a few yachts to have survived from the early 20th century, and arguably there is no other yacht of this size, age, and original standing remaining. Madiz was built in 1902 by Ailsa Shipbuilding in Troon, Scotland, and at 55.4m is the largest classic motor yacht currently listed for sale. Madiz can also claim the title of the oldest vessel in operation to have Lloyd’s classification. Originally commissioned by James Coates Jnr, from his friend and now legendary yacht designer G L. Watson, Madiz was intended as something of a mothership or support boat to Coates’ sizable schooner-rigged sailing yacht. With the outbreak of World War I, Madiz was taken by the Royal Navy and she served in the Auxiliary Patrol Service. The vessel was returned to pleasure yachting in 1920 and passed through the hands of several British yachtsmen, but it was not long before she was again called to naval service. Post-World War II, the yacht was acquired by the Hon. John North, second son of the 8th Earl of Guilford and with Madiz, he headed for the Mediterranean. In 1968, North decided to sell the yacht and she was laid up in Piraeus until she inspired Greek businessman Costas Keletsekis to become her owner. Keletsekis equipped Madiz with new engines and refitted the boat in 2003 to bring her back into class with Lloyds Register. 40 years later, in 2010, Madiz was acquired by her current owners and has been lovingly cared for as an icon of classic yachting style. Whilst she has evolved somewhat over her incredible 120-year history, many original features remain. Today, this steel-hulled motor yacht is powered by two Mercedes 250Hp engines and has accommodation for 14 guests in seven cabins. Schon wieder reist Brigitta nach Deutschland und ich bleibe als Einhandsegler zurück – was ich nicht kann und nie wollte. Brigitta wird direkt vom Boot in der Anchorage bei Green Islands von LAM-Tours abgeholt und mit Boot und Jeep zum Flughafen gebracht. Ich habe mir vorgenommen meinen Rückstand der letzten Monate bei den YouTube-Filmen und diversen Blogbeiträgen für unsere Website aufzuarbeiten. Das Thema mit dem nicht funktionierenden Wassermacher bleibt. Der Tank für das Duschwasser ist jedoch voll und ich habe vier große Flaschen Trinkwasser – das sollte erst einmal reichen. Ich glaube, es ist das vierte Mal, dass ich in Lee von Green Islands ankere – kein Wind, kein Schwell. Hier fühle ich mich wohl und sicher. Brigitta hatte noch Brot gebacken und Wäsche gewaschen. Prompt schaltet der Inverter ab und Harry von der Adel hilft mir am kommenden Morgen mit seinem mobilen Generator die Batterien wieder zum Leben zu erwecken. Habt Ihr konkrete Fragen? Now, just because the asking prices are creeping up close to $40,000, doesn't mean you should OFFER that amount. It's a buyer's market, for sure, so aim low if you're a buyer. In fact if you find a boat you like, think of an offering price that would make you uncomfortable to offer. Got it? That's the number you should present to the seller or broker! You're not going to hurt anyone's feelings - and you never know what might happen! I know of people who ended up receiving a sailboat for FREE and another friend who negotiated 50% off the asking price. It can happen. But, it won't happen if you don't ask. Am Strand liegen die angeschwemmten Wurzeln von Baumriesen, die es auf irgend einem Weg aus dem Dschungel bis hierher geschafft haben. Banedup Mit dem Inselnamen Banedup kann vielleicht nur der San-Blas-Routinier etwas anfangen. Spricht man jedoch von den Holandes Cays oder sogar vom Swimmingpool weiß jeder Bescheid. Spätestens wenn man von Ibins Beach Restaurant spricht, wird jeder aufmerksam. Auch wir hatten hier an der berühmten Silvesterfeier teilnehmen wollen. Nun sind wir doch hier – wenn auch verspätet. Swimmingpool Der Swimmingpool ist eine von Flachs beschützte 3 – 4 Meter tiefe Fläche mit reinem Sandboden nordwestlich von Banedup. Bei Sonne strahlt das Wasser türkisfarben. Heute hat der Wind ungewöhnlich nachgelassen. Wir brechen auf zum Schnorcheln. Zum Teil ist das Wasser super flach, sodass zumindest einer von uns aussteigen muss. Heute hat der Wind jedoch so weit nachgelassen, dass wir uns mit dem Dingy bis ans Außenriff trauen und hier eine faszinierende Canyon Landschaft durchschwimmen. Mir begegnen Manns große Rochen - sie sind schon ein wenig Angst einflößend. Die über 2 m großen Rochen ziehen mit wellenförmigen Bewegungen majestätisch unter mir dahin. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. The Turkish gulet for sale, constructed for charter by renowned builder Hasan Ali Bayar in 1990, is a masterpiece of traditional design and craftsmanship. Boasting a transom stern and sturdy construction, this vessel embodies the charm and elegance of classic Turkish maritime architecture. Since its launch, the gulet has undergone several upgrades to ensure optimal performance and comfort. In 2015, 2020, and 2023, significant enhancements were made, including the replacement of masts with 5mm, 2 steel masts coated with epoxy paint, and the installation of new wires. The deck, aft, and front seating areas were completely refurbished, and a new sun awning and solar energy panels were added. Additionally, the hull underwent a comprehensive renovation with an epoxy system in 2023, including antifouling treatment in November of the same year. Measuring 22.80 meters in length with a beam of 5.60 meters, the gulet boasts a draft of 2.70 meters. Its construction features mulberry wood frames for the hull and mahogany wood for the superstructure and interior.
