Dragonfly trimarans are small, fun speed machines. They offer less (storage) space under deck than a monohull of comparable size, but a lot more real estate on deck (counting the nets). What you get in return is SPEED. Lots of it. Up to 21 knots and 1,3x wind speed, if we believe their claims. With as little as 35 cm (14") of draft this boats can sail anywhere. And then the smaller ones are even trailable. There are new boats and old boats and the time between to make adventure happen is precious. We wanted to set sail right away… and we needed to have a parachute (just in case all our dreams were really just wishes). Turns out, we love this life, just like we knew we would, and we love our boat too.  We have lived aboard our boat for almost a year. Life is much different today that it was back then. At the beginning of our journey, we had some tough choices to make about our boat/home purchase. Originally, we were looking at blue water monohulls, but the boats in our price range needed surveys and survey reports suggested a lot of work and time on the hard. In the end, we decided to buy a Lagoon Catamaran. We didn't know each other very well and we had limited sailing experience. It seemed wise to buy a manageable and popular boat that would be easy to learn on and (just in case) in demand if we decided to sell. It turns out that the Starship is awesome and we love her.
