► Full test in Multihulls World Special issue #16: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/motor/leen-56-welcome-aboard-an-ocean-going-vessel ► One of the very rare motor trimarans on the market NEEL Trimarans, born in 2009, can claim to be the only manufacturer to offer large production trimarans - 30 units are produced every year. Thanks to this unique positioning and their expertise, the yard announced launched their very first power trimaran back in April. This new brand of powered trimarans called LEEN (a clever reflection of Neel, being named after the owner and founder of the yard, Eric Bruneel). The first model announced is therefore the LEEN 56, characterized by the two floats significantly shorter at the bows compared to the central hull, and by a platform of large surface-area, topped by an imposing flybridge. The advantage of these new ocean-going multihulls is their very low drag: consumption will be limited to 2 liters (just over ½ US gal) per mile at cruising speed (9 knots). The diesel engine in the central hull can be supported by two electric pods - one in each hull - to facilitate maneuvering in port and for leaving an anchorage with the greatest discretion. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Leen Trimarans Architects: Nivelt and Frutschi Overall length: 56’1” (17.10 m) Beam: 27’1” (8.25 m) Draft: 4’3” (1.30 m) Light displacement: 48,500 lbs (22 t) Water: 215 US gal (825 l) Fuel: 1,520 US gal (6,000 l) Motor: 305 HP Cruising speed: 9/10 knots Max speed: 11.5 knots Cabins: 3 to 6 CE Certification: A ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! Quite a challenge, but above all an opportunity to measure the incredible evolutions in terms of comfort and ergonomics that separate the two models. This Beneteau Oceanis 30.1 knows what it is and what it is not. I like that! This currently smallest yacht in the Beneteau Oceanis family is NOT a charter sailboat with 4 cabins and 4 heads (bweh!). It is instead an owners boat for passionate sailors: Two mainsail options, jib, genoa, code 0, gennaker? No problem. Tillers instead of wheels? Sure. Main sheets on BOTH helm stations? You can have that. An actually usable head? Yes. Long keel, short keel, swing keel, lifting keel? Be my guest. Couple this with a foldable mast and you get easier transport and fewer craning fees at the marina. All in all this offer from Beneteau yachts seems like a worthy answer to a specific set of challenges. I am NOT in any way AFFILIATED with Beneteau Yachts. All the things said represent only my opinion. ALL information presented here is correct to my best knowledge and is meant only for reference purposes. E12: We finally get settled in, in Phuket Thailand and put together our boat tour. In addition to being super busy once we got in Phuket, Steffie also had to learn Adobe Premier Pro. She learned a ton just in a week, while we were running around and also doing boat work. We have been getting a lot of content while we have been here, so there will be several videos going up over the next month. We have been not only working on Matahom, but also spending time exploring Phuket and hitting up the beaches. Covid has made the beaches basically empty here in Phuket. Enjoy the video. Lots of boat work and Phuket day trips soon to come in our future episodes.

Full test in Multihulls World #178: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/trimaran/neel-43-two-hulls-good-three-hulls-better Neel 43 Trimaran, the video of the first sea trials with Eric Bruneel, Neel Trimarans shipyard CEO. The concept of a wide catamaran-type nacelle on a three-hull platform is NEEL... A great idea that has allowed the shipyard to build up an incredible reputation in 10 years and to restore the good name of trimarans. The NEEL 43, announced last June, is the smallest model of the range, replacing the 45. More compact obviously than her big sisters, the 43 will still have a high freeboard and a very similar nacelle in terms of design. The central hull adopts a pronounced rocker to be able to increase the volume. The load capacity is very impressive for a trimaran, reaching nearly 3. One innovation: the use of bio-sourced and recyclable materials. Nearly 30 units have already been ordered: the launch price, at under € 300,000 ex-tax, is undoubtedly one of the reasons for this... The first model is slated for launch in April 2021. Sirius 35DS did NOT disappoint! The little sister of the Sirius 40DS packs a punch, having almost everything the 40DS Decksalon yacht has to offer, but in an even more compact package. At no time you feel like you are on a 35 foot boat, be it in the two double beds or the dedicated shower. 2-3-6 berth layouts available Have I already told you about the tech room with the work bench? No? I will! This IS a bluewater sailboat like very few brands build them nowadays. I will say it here. If I were looking for a monohull to own, the Sirius 35DS would be on top of my list. A comprehensive walkthrough trough the new BENETEAU First 27 SE - with Tit Plevnik. Learn more here: https://www.beneteau.com/us/first-se/first-27-se -- About BENETEAU -- The first BENETEAU boats sailed from the shipyards of Croix-de-Vie over 135 years ago. Since that time, the BENETEAU brand has been synonymous with quality and innovation to all those who have taken to the water – first by the fishermen who made their livelihood from the sea and then by the legions of recreational boaters around the globe. Over the years, our commitment to innovating and embracing ideas, no matter how unconventional, has been at the forefront of who we are in order to bring you the best boat possible. BENETEAU was one of the first boatbuilders many years ago to use computer-aided design (CAD) as well as lighter, stronger composite building materials. We’ve also been at the cutting edge of using greener materials and processes to do our part in protecting the incredible world which we explore. However, all this innovation doesn’t mean we’ve turned our back on tradition. One thing we’ve discovered in over a century of boatbuilding is that new-world innovations work best with old-school craftsmanship. This combination has resulted in some of the most iconic sailboats and powerboats in the world – supremely seaworthy yachts renowned for their sense of style, luxury, and comfort along with their creative use of space and new technologies. -- Philosophy -- We’re a lot like you. We love the water in all its forms – the ocean, bays, lakes, and rivers. And we love sharing the boating lifestyle with our family and friends. This love manifests itself in every BENETEAU built in any one of our many manufacturing facilities worldwide. Every BENETEAU sailboat and powerboat on the water reflects the best efforts of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen along with the highest quality materials and the latest innovations. When you purchase a BENETEAU, you become a valued member of our BENETEAU family. For this reason, our after-sale service is second to none as evidenced by the multitude of National Marine Manufacturers CSI Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. At the core of this outstanding service is our exceptional dealer network. Every one of our authorized BENETEAU dealers will be there for you – from choosing the right yacht to the handover and beyond. Your dealer will be your able guide when it comes to maintaining your boat properly and will help you maximize the return on your investment when it comes time to step up to another BENETEAU – and it usually does! We wouldn’t have it any other way. ► Full report in MULTIHULLS WORLD #177: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/catamaran/class-6-cata-or-trimaran ► Catamaran or Trimaran? From ahead, between the hulls, the central longitudinal beam of the new Class 6 is intriguing… We’re not talking about the famous central rostrum so dear to Privilège, but something completely new. The structure is called the Spine Concept: this configuration takes the forces of the mast, stiffens the chassis and guarantees safety and finesse during possible high speed water-landings. The hunt for weight is clearly evident in refined and modular facilities - 3 to 6 cabins. The same goes for the appendages: you can choose between curved daggerboards and lift rudderblades or fixed skeg keels. The futuristic design reflects the ambition for performance, not to mention the comfort and protection of the crew. They’ve taken advantage of new spaces such as the large aft platform under the elegant rigid bimini or the forward cockpit. The Franco-Latvian yard has already delivered two examples. There are three versions of this model available – Maxi, Performance, Race. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: O Yachts Length: 62’9” (19.12 m) Beam: 29’8” (9.05 m) Light displacement: 14.8 to 17 t) Draft: 4’1” / 12’6” (1.25 / 3.80 m) Mainsail area: 1,173 / 1540 sq ft (109/143 m²) Genoa: 1,130 / 1,324 sq ft (105/123 m²) Nb of cabins: 4/5/6 Water: 211 to 396 US gal (800 to 1,500 l) Diesel: 211 to 396 US gal (800 to 1,500 l) Engines: 2 x 80 HP ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! According to designer Alan Johnstone, the brief for the new 36ft 6in J/111 one-design was for a boat that he and the rest of the J/Boats crew would want to sail—and it shows. During a recent daysail off Newport, Rhode Island, hull #1 reveled in picture perfect sailing conditions, with winds out of the east in the mid to high teens. Sailing to windward, the boat was balanced and easy to drive through the moderate swells. Off the wind, the boat lit up under a massive, but easy to handle A-sail. Narrow beam and a deep, high-aspect rudder make the boat easy to control, even when it’s on its ear. A bulb keel drawing 7ft 2in provides the righting moment to control the 751ft2 of working sail and 1,410-ft2 spinnaker. Tacking, even in the chop off Newport Neck, was effortless, with precision helm control throughout and never a doubt about making it onto the other tack. In the puffs, the boat accelerated like flicking a switch. This is a boat that looks impressive just sitting at the dock. The stem is plumb, so much so that in profile it almost looks as though there is a hint of tumblehome. The stern is also nearly vertical, with minimal overhang, in the interest of maximizing sailing length.

► Full report in Multihulls World #177: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/catamaran/outremer-55-round-the-world-express The video of our two days sailing between La Grande Motte and Marseille. ► This new 55 will sit between the Outremer 51 and the 5X in the range. At the helm of the project is the “dream team” that has built the latest models, namely the triumvirate of Patrick Le Quément, Marc Van Peteghem and Franck Darnet. The coachroof is the result of innovative aesthetic research with large glazed areas on the sides and a large vertical opening forward, that is concealed by rounded uprights. The mast is stepped on the coachroof in order to ensure optimum weight centering. The two helm stations are equipped with movable steering wheels, and provide excellent visibility over the water and - on each side - comfortable seating for two people. The cockpit enjoys the protection of a light but well-covered bimini. At the stern, a wide bench seat allows you to make the most of the table, which is itself set back. As for the nacelle, this is home to a large galley with a central island and a forward-facing chart table. The Outremer 55 is above all a light, well-canvassed catamaran, capable of good speeds under sail - including upwind, close-hauled thanks to her deep daggerboards – from just 5 knots of wind. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Outremer Yachting Architect: VPLP Length: 54’11” (16.73 m) Beam: 27’ (8.22 m) Displacement: 29,500 lbs (13.4 t) Draft: 3’/7’10” (0.9/2.4 m) Air draft: 80’ (24.38 m) Mainsail area: 1,120 sq ft (104 m²) Genoa: 730 sq ft (68 m²) Gennaker: 1,560 sq ft (145 m²) Spinnaker: 2,370 sq ft (220 m²) Engines: 2 x 60 HP ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests!
