Welcome aboard Bacchus, our 2001 Beneteau Oceanis Clipper 361. We bought her in 2018 in Ipswich, United Kingdom and sailed her down to Brighton on the South Coast of England where we lived aboard for just over a year, getting her ready to cross oceans and sail us home to New Zealand. Wir sind zurück! Anderthalb Wochen Überführungstörn von Emden nach Heiligenhafen und das anschließende Pfingstwochenende mit einem Abstecher nach Kühlungsborn liegen hinter uns. Es ging durch alle drei Bundesländer am Meer mit ihren eigenen und doch ähnlichen Corona-Beschränkungen. Die auch andernorts üblichen Abstands- und Hygieneregeln waren natürlich auch in den Häfen einzuhalten. Teilweise galt Maskenpflicht auf dem Steg oder sogar auf dem gesamten Hafengelände, unabhängig von anwesenden Personen. In geschlossenen Räumen sowieso. Wir waren gut vorbereitet, hatten uns vor dem Törn über die jeweiligen lokalen Regeln informiert und uns auch während des Törns auf dem Laufenden gehalten – das war auch gut so! Im Endeffekt gab es zwei Faktoren, die das Segeln in diesen Zeiten, neben Wind und Tide, bestimmt haben: Das in einigen Häfen notwendige Voranmelden der Anreise und die Sperrung der Waschräume in Niedersachsen und Schleswig-Holstein. Unsere Reise führte uns von Emden über Borkum und Wangerooge nach Cuxhaven. Von dort durch den Nord-Ostsee-Kanal nach Kiel, Heiligenhafen und schließlich bis nach Kühlungsborn und Fehmarn. A full tour of our Lagoon 42 Catamaran as we sailed it around the Seychelles Islands. We begin with a 360 degree view around the outside, and then continue with the inside, including the 'skippers cabin'! For us it was a first to sail sleep and socialize on a sailboat and Sailing Catamaran, so forgive my extreme excitement detailing every part of our boat and journey! Narrowboat tour - inside our 37ft Narrowboat. Ever wondered what the inside of a 37ft narrowboat looks like? How can we fit everything in such a tiny space? What is the layout? Check out this video to have a look. We will be releasing another Part 2 going into more technical detail which will provide details on our water tank, how we generate power, the type of engine we have etc. We will also cover why we decided to get a smaller narrowboat despite it being our full time home. We’re Stephen and Kayleigh an English/ Scottish couple and along with our two dogs Hugo and Coco we will full time on board our 37ft narrowboat Grayswood. After living nearly two years in our self-converted campervan we decided we needed more space. So, as a compromise (Ste wanted a boat, I was happy in the van) we decided we would purchase a boat after spending some time on our friend’s narrowboat. Grayswood was conveniently located less that 5 minutes from my work and was found kind of by accident. I was visiting a friend who was staying in Aston Marina and whilst we were out walking the dogs, I seen the advert for Grayswood. I said to my friend “that looks a nice boat” and as I said it the marina manager appeared and asked if we would like a look inside. Naturally we did. After looking inside, the boat I texted Ste and told him I’d found us a boat. We made an offer after going back for a second viewing, after some negotiations within a week she was ours pending a survey. She was hauled out the following week and the survey went well. We kept her out on the hard standing for a further six weeks whilst we renovated the insides including fitting a new kitchen and bathroom.
