⛵ Rigging a Whitehall Sailboat at the Dock — Easier Said Than Done!
Join the Gig Harbor Boat Works crew: Paige and Sommer as we prepare our 14’ Whitehall sailboat for a sea trial! In this video, we’re rigging the Whitehall while she’s already floating at the dock. While it can certainly be done, it’s not always the easiest way to get a sailboat ready for an adventure! Our recommendation? Rig your boat on land or while it’s still on the trailer, then launch. It’s generally easier, more stable, and a whole lot less juggling of sails, spars, and lines while balancing on a floating boat. For a more detailed walkthrough of our sloop rigging process, check out our Navigator Sloop Rigging Tutorial, also available on our YouTube channel. Many of the same rigging principles apply. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or just learning the ropes, we hope this video offers a helpful look at preparing a small sailboat for a day on the water. A little preparation on land makes for more fun on the water! ⛵ Learn more about our handcrafted rowing and sailing boats at www.ghboats.com. #GigHarborBoatWorks #WhitehallSailboat #SailboatRigging #SmallBoatSailing #SailingTips #BoatLife
