Why we Chose a DIY Fixed Keel for our Sailboat [2.11]
Finally we have reached a decision regarding what direction we should go with regarding the keel. It feels really good to finally have reached a final decision after a lot of weeks considering different options - Should we keep the swing keel? Or cast a new keel ourselves? But before we made the final decision we removed the "wings" of the swing keel as a final evaluation. In this video we also start some other jobs that needs to be completed before splash day; we remove the propeller shaft so that we can replace the cutlass bearing and shaft sealing, and we also start to remove the through-hulls. We sailed for a year to the Caribbean and back again. October 2023 we bought a new sailboat, a Wasa 530 that is need of some renovation. On our channel you will be able to follow our process - from buying a sailboat that has been standing for 10+ years and turning her into a perfect blue water cruiser! Our plan going forward is to post a new video bi-weekly on Saturdays.
