In November 1913, the Great Lakes were hit by the most destructive storm in the region's history. Of the 19 ships lost to the Great Lakes Storm of 1913, often dubbed the White Hurricane, the largest was the brand new Canadian freighter James Carruthers, which vanished on Lake Huron on November 9th, 1913.
