The Joy of Sailing, Our First Sail in a New Ocean! + FISH ON! (Calico Skies Sailing Ep. 139)

Join us as we embark on our very first sail in the Pacific Ocean. We depart from Playita Marina located just outside Panama Canal and set our waypoint for Punta Mala (Bad point), a point with a confluence of strong currents, notoriously rough in high winds. Luckily for us the Pacific is living up to its name and we have nice chill conditions. As the sun is setting and we are eating dinner we notice a large Sierra Mackerel has grabbed our line. We are already impressed with the wildlife present in the Pacific Ocean. We have seen many sea birds as well as dolphins. Conditions are so chill that we opt to keep going, adding another 150 miles to our trip. This will put us within striking distance of Costa Rica.
