On September 14th, 1914, RMS Carmania, recently converted into an armed merchant cruiser made a strange discovery in the South Atlantic-- another armed merchant cruiser disguised to look exactly like her. It was the German SMS Cap Trafalgar, which had also been converted into a war ship and disguised to trick allied ships. The encounter set off one of the strangest naval battles in history.
