SURGERY At Sea! And Learning About Longlines In Mexico | Sailing with Six | S2 E14

What can I say... this is a pretty intense episode but if you're all in on the journey you have to expect that things can change in an instant and handle them as best you can at the time. As we push off from Manzanillo in Mexico it suddenly becomes apparent to us that we are in long line fishing territory. We have plenty of people on board and get everyone taking turns to be on look out for the tiny plastic bottles that are used as buoys and strung together for miles. It really becomes challenging when we catch long lines on our rudders and then on our fishing line... twice! As we cut ourselves free from the long line our own fishing lure embeds itself deep into the soft thumb pad on Kris's hand and panic ensues as we struggle to remove the hook. Obviously this isn't the only content in the episode. There is still plenty of family fun to entertain you as we head toward Acapulco. Please, if you do any sort of fishing we strongly recommend you educate yourselves of some of the best ways to remove a fish hook from your body. Our method was pretty brutal but there are other methods we have since learnt and hopefully will not need to use.
