Solo Sailing Sea Trial & Engine Maintenance Sailing Northern Ireland
Join me for a winter solo sailing session in Northern Ireland! We start in the engine room, finishing up some maintenance by changing the alternator belt—which turned out to be a bit of a struggle. Once the engine was ready, I couldn't resist heading out to sea to test some gear. In this episode, I’m testing a remote for the autopilot kindly fixed by David from @lowcostsailor and checking the plotter. You’ll see the challenges of hoisting sails solo, dealing with snags, and performing a "chicken jibe" (tacking instead of jibing) when the gusts got too hairy. Finally, we navigate a tricky docking maneuver at the fuel dock, dealing with prop wash and the massive Queen of Ulster blocking the way. 00:00 Engine maintenance: The alternator belt struggle 02:07 Why it's a "sin" not to sail in Ireland today 02:46 Testing the remote autopilot and plotter 04:19 Casting off solo from the marina 07:57 Shoutout to David (TheLowCostSailor) 08:42 Hoisting the main and Genoa (Solo challenges) 12:10 Troubleshooting a snagged line 15:04 Dealing with gusts: The "Chicken Jibe" 18:23 Dropping sails 25:12 Tricky docking: Prop wash vs. The Queen of Ulster 30:08 Wrapping up at the fuel dock #SoloSailing #SailboatMaintenance #Ireland #SailingVlog #SoloSailor #boatlife #Hunterlegend376 #hunter376 Special thanks to @konikoni123 Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFuWfLVgIBL6JzolbRqefXw/join
