In this Episode; WARNING: Footage at the end of the video might be DISTURBING to some. In this Episode; Amazing Drone aerial footage of some of the gorgeous Islets and Cays near the Belizean barrier reef. Exploring mangrove estuaries in the Sittee River where some say Crocodiles lurk and amazing underwater footage of the coral reefs and tropical fish at the Belizean barrier reef. WARNING: Footage at the end of the video might be DISTURBING to some. I felt compelled to share (at the end of the video) some of the frustration we feel with regards to the amounts of plastic trash we come across while out exploring remote areas of the Caribbean. The footage might be disturbing to some. Every windward beach in Belize on the islands we visited were in a similar situation, but it's a problem throughout the Caribbean. I've shared the Caribbean's plastic problem in the past in smaller doses, but the Barrier reef of Belize is a World Heritage site and the World needs to know what is happening to it. I think the reasons it's so prevalent in Belize is because of the prevailing Trade Winds. Trade Winds push West and Belize is the final stopping point. Plastic trash out here is a sad problem. It's more than just unpleasant to see, small pieces of plastic bags are seen as jelly fish to Turtles, many fish are filter feeders including the giant Whale Shark and as plastic breaks down into smaller pieces fish are ingesting it... Plastic. It's becoming a bigger problem for Belize. Because of the constant push West from the Trade Winds the windward sides of the islands we visited were covered in plastic trash. Please SUBSCRIBE and tap on the NOTIFICATION BELL so that you never miss an episode! We welcome Bruce and Brenda, John and Cory aboard Saltair3 to share the experience of learning to sail a Big Cat and what it's really like living a life on the Sea. A week long adventure of learning to sail, getting a taste of what it’s like living on a catamaran in the Caribbean, how we make our power and our water, and how we provision, cook, diesel maintenance and more… all while exploring the amazing Belizean Barrier Reef! We had a great time, made some great friends and shared our lives a step past our videos... They came as strangers to us and left as great friends, although they had a pretty good idea of who we are before the came Lol! Said Bruce; "that was the most amazing sailing trip of my life..." This video shares some of the highlights of their trip… I hope it doesn’t feel like an advertisement, it wasn’t made in that fashion. Simply an opportunity to share with the world, more of the adventure, and that’s what we are all about… You too can spend an all inclusive week with us aboard our catamaran Saltair3 learning how to live a life on the sea and leave a small environmental foot print, how to prepare, repair, provision, catch fish and lobster, how to safely check into foreign countries and learn to sail a Big Cat, or just sit back, relax and enjoy being aboard Saltair3 in the warm and beautiful Caribbean Sea.
