Sailing WILD WEATHER w/ Electronics on the WILD Coast of Africa! (Patrick Childress Sailing #64)

We finally go sailing down the Wild Coast of South Africa using our marine electronics, to help us navigate, and get weather predictions, as well as ocean current models. We don’t want stormy weather, and we don’t want wind or current against us! We use the sailing app called Predictwind Offshore, to get weather at sea, including wind forecasts and current models, through the Iridium GO. We also use AIS, and our Raymarine chartplotter and Radar, and other marine electronics and Navionics charts to navigate safely as we sail around the Cape of Storms, in lots of current and wind! These marine electronics are so useful for offshore sailing Africa, and crossing oceans! Patrick Childress demonstrates tips and tricks for using the Monitor self steering vane while the crew battles seasickness for a solid 24 hours. We navigate in the dark and anchor in East London, South Africa, to rest and wait for less stormy weather to continue our offshore passage around Cape Agulhas and the Cape of Good Hope.
