Come aboard when we sail from Sweden to the Mediterranean!⛵️ If you're new to our channel, welcome! 🩵 We’re a Swedish couple (and a sausage dog) who quit our jobs, rented out our apartment, and set off to sail from Stockholm to the Mediterranean in our 33 ft sailboat from 1980. In this video we continue sailing south through Sweden in the windiest summer this country has seen in years! 🌬️We battle relentless headwinds and spend hours tacking without getting far. It's slow progress, and at times we’re windbound, stuck waiting out the weather…🥲 We begin our journey in Kalmar, a charming little town on the east coast, and cross over to Öland, Sweden’s second-largest island. But instead of summer vibes, we’re greeted by stormy winds and empty streets, it feels like a ghost town (or nuclear town😆). From there, we face our longest sail so far, 12 hours of non-stop tacking and bouncing in rough waves. Not the most fun day at sea! But it’s not all struggle, we also enjoy beautiful views, liveaboard life, and we meet new American sailing friends who invite us for dinner aboard their cool boat, Rockhopper.
