Nine days after the USS John S McCain was holed by a tanker, we tackled the Singapore Strait. The military and coast-guard presence in all sections was full on. At one point we were politely told to move over, but other ships received far more severe reprimands over the VHF radio, and were reported to the authorities. Never have we seen so many moving and anchored ships in one place. The AIS signals almost blotted out our electronic charts.
