Why did ancient Greek philosopher, Pythagoras, sail 600 miles from a beautiful island home to Italy? Why was he forced to leave Crotone? We continue sailing Calabria to Puglia on our way to the Balkans. The Gulf of Taranto is the largest gulf in Italy forming the "instep" of the boot which shapes the peninsula. It's a long day of sailing with a dark and misty start. Radar needed with a cargo vessel encounter then raft up to an abandoned sailboat.
