We had incredibly calm conditions when we set off from Minerva Reef but finally the winds are starting to fill in. While the waves are still pretty small, we can make the most of the time and sew together our NZ courtesy flag but it's not long before the squalls start to roll in and we see our first equipment failure on the boat. We are praying that things don't get as bad as the forecast implies because this part of the ocean is known for being pretty rough, but fingers crossed we can hold on long enough to all arrive in one piece.
