Reaching Lizard Island at Last | Solo Sailing, Cook’s Look & The Legendary Marlin Bar (Ep.86)

Leaving Cape Flattery behind, I make the short sail to Lizard Island — a destination I’ve dreamed of reaching for more than 25 years. Sitting on the front deck with the Coral Sea stretching out around me, I take a moment to appreciate what a milestone this really is. The boat, the freedom, the coastline… I’m grateful I get to live this life and finally tick Lizard Island off the list. Once anchored, I head ashore for the famous Cook’s Look walk. It’s a tough climb, but the reward at the top is unreal — panoramic views over Lizard Island, the reefs, and the deep blue ocean beyond. Back at the anchorage, I snorkel among the giant clams the island is known for, each one more colourful and impressive than the last. With no crocodiles around for once, I finally get the chance to clean ARGO’s waterline properly. Then it’s time to check out the legendary Marlin Bar, a classic meeting spot for yachties and resort guests. Cold drinks, good people, and a perfect setting to swap stories from the sea.
