One month and I am out for 8 months

One month. How did we get here already? I think arriving in France changed something in my head. For months I’ve been running around trying to get Showgirl ready, solving one problem and immediately finding the next one, and the race has always been this thing waiting somewhere in the future. Now I’m here. The other boats are here. The other sailors are here. Everyone is working, fixing things, running around trying to finish their own ridiculous to-do lists… and weirdly, that has made me feel calmer. Maybe because I’m not the only one who isn’t sitting here completely ready with my feet up. 😂 Monday everything officially starts. Checks, inspections, tests, the whole program. And then somehow four weeks later we’re all going to sail away. I’m trying to remind myself to actually enjoy this bit too. I don’t want to spend the next month so focused on getting ready that I completely miss what is happening around me. Because soon enough, all this noise and all these people will disappear. And it’ll just be me and Showgirl for eight months. One tiny month. This is actually happening. 🌊
