My First Sail on the New Boat: Sailing her Home Through Strong Winds - Ep. 2 [EN]

This is it – the very first sail on my new-to-me Grinde! I travel to Friesland to pick her up. The previous owner takes the time to walk me through the boat and explains how everything works: quirks of the rigging, the electrical system, the quirks of the BetaMarine engine, and all the little details only an owner knows. Then, together with my good friend Gwen, we sail her all the way back to my home marina in Muiderzand. The water is that deep, dark green typical of the IJsselmeer, the wind is strong and gusty, and honestly… I’m a bit nervous. It’s been a while since I last sailed a boat single-handed. Do I still remember how everything works? Reefing, trimming, docking – it all comes rushing back.
