Manta Rays Everywhere ! Lady Elliot Island Magic (Ep.69) | Sailing ARGO

We’d heard that Lady Elliot Island was teeming with sea life… and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment we slipped into the water, we were surrounded. Schools of fish everywhere, turtles gliding effortlessly past – already enough to make this place special. But then it went to another level. An entire squadron of manta rays joined us, and what followed was one of the most incredible experiences we’ve ever had. Hours in the water, watching these graceful, majestic creatures move with such ease… it’s hard to put into words just how magical it felt to be part of their world, even for a moment. Out of the water, we took time to explore the island itself – a full loop walk that takes around 30–40 minutes and offers a completely different perspective of this unique little coral cay. And for those following along from Part 1 – the verdict on the mooring is in. We tried the northern buoy, but the southern end proved to be the better option. Both have a bit of roll, but the southern side handled the swell far more comfortably. It’s not the easiest anchorage, and definitely one to time with calmer conditions… but without a doubt, it’s worth it. Lady Elliot Island had been on our list for a long time – and now we know why.
