From the boat I jump on the scooter and head deep into Lombok. First stop: Bayan Beleq, the oldest mosque on the island – 300 years old, built entirely of wood, no nails. Then a 4-hour walk through endless green rice terraces to a secret waterfall. On the way we’re invited into a Sasak family home, drink coffee, talk about life, and suddenly I’m threshing rice the traditional way with a group of laughing farmers.
