The Boston Harbor Now team and our neighborhood partners broadcasted live from the Boston waterfront during the October King Tide on October 19, 2020. The coastal tide reached over 12ft across the inner Boston Harbor and this exploration of several locations along Boston's waterfront witnessed the impacts of coastal flooding. Hear local perspectives in East Boston from Kannan Thiruvengadam, Director of Eastie Farm and Alex DeFronzo, Executive Director of Piers Park Sailing Center. Boston Harbor Now staff reported from Fort Point Channel and the Dorchester waterfront. While King Tides are regularly occurring natural tidal phenomenons resulting from the gravitational pull of the relative position of the Earth and its moon, they do offer a unique glimpse into the future of sea level rise around our vulnerable coastal areas.
