Episode 42 - You, Me, and a Moment in Time

After all the shake downs, and the Annapolis Sailboat Show, and the voyage home, it was finally time for Toni and I to go on our first maiden voyage on Moments in Time. We headed out of Solomons in the spitting rain with no agenda. We were to let the winds dictate our course and destination. But after crossing the bay we realized that the winds were diminishing so we decided to head up the Patuxent River where the potential anchorages were plenty. Moments in Time continued to sail on 4-5 knots of wind until the last breath, where we fired up Lucy and Rickey and headed into St. Leonard Creek, where we dropped the hook in a familiar anchorage of St. John’s Creek. We celebrated our 39th Wedding Anniversary with a nice dinner and a bottle of Champagne. We awoke the next morning to the all-day pouring rain and declared the day a boat chore day. We enjoyed another nice dinner and awoke the next morning and raised the anchor. The rain had stopped, but the winds were still shifting around 4-5 knots so we jibed down the Patuxent and back to Solomons. We successfully backed in our slip for the very first time and celebrated with a decadent meal that we rarely cook for ourselves. A glass of red wine with John Denver playing on the Fusion sound system marked the end of our maiden voyage. Subscribe and share the adventure!
