E241 – Hidden Bays, Ancient Ruins & A Near Miss in Turkey

In this episode, we sail through the stunning Gocek region of Turkey, exploring secluded bays, ancient ruins and some of the most incredible scenery along the coast. We begin at Gocek National Park, where we explore the famous Cleopatra’s Baths before continuing west to Asi Koyu, an idyllic bay surrounded by towering cliffs. From there, we head to Ciftlik, where we’re amused by the restaurant owners standing on their waterfront jetties, enthusiastically waving and trying to flag down incoming boats to convince them to stop at their restaurant. We eventually find a stunning, unnamed bay surrounded by towering mountains and incredible shades of Mediterranean blue. Flying the drone gives us a whole new perspective on just how beautiful this remote coastline really is. But when it’s time to leave, things take an unexpected turn. As we untie our Med Mooring setup, we reveal that during the night we had a very near-miss accident that could have ended very differently. Our final stop is Knidos, where we explore the extensive ruins of this once-important ancient city, strategically positioned at the tip of the Datça Peninsula. Another spectacular stretch of the Turkish coast, with beautiful anchorages, ancient history, unexpected moments and plenty of adventure aboard No Regrets.
