E237 – Suakin, Sudan | Ruins, Poverty & Desert Storms to Suez

In this episode, we explore the ancient ruins of Suakin's White City before heading into the modern town to stock up on provisions. We drive through the streets and get a confronting glimpse of everyday life in one of the world's poorest countries stopping at the tiny supermarket and the fresh produce markets. We then continue north, stopping overnight at Marsa Gwiliab as the northerly winds increase. The following day brings a huge Sahara Desert sandstorm, followed just six hours later by a powerful electrical storm and intense winds in the pitch-black of night. Finally, we reach Port Suez, weaving through a huge field of anchored ships before being measured and prepared for our transit of the Suez Canal.
