BOOMERANG SAILING 2021- 2022 Projects PART II

The work through the winter and early spring continues. As the weather has warmed, a bit, the focus has now shifted to the exterior work, mainly the hull and bottom. With a new boat every project brings more discoveries. We hadn't planned on doing a lot of work on the bottom this year but after a closer inspection it was badly in need of some immediate attention. I'm not sure how the bottom was prepared in the past, but the paint appeared to have been put on with a spatula rather than sprayed or rolled. We ended up sanding with 80 grit paper to cut through the thick layers of paint and prepare the bottom for a proper anti-fouling paint application. The hull was also a mess. It was heavily oxidized. We used a 3M heavy oxidation remover with a DA orbital polisher to cut through the haze and start to bring out a semblance of gloss. We promise more actual sailing videos to come.
