Bahamas Bound from Florida! (Episode 15 Between Sun and Sea)

Explore More! https://www.instagram.com/betweensunandsea & Please SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/betweensunandsea After rounding up two more scallywags in Florida to crew with us as we sailed into the Caribbean, we said goodbye to Elijah and our new friends at the HollyWood Marina and headed straight for the Bahamas! Definitely a sailing for beginners video because it was a first time for all of us sailing these rough seas! However, later we learned the invaluable lesson of cruising on the leeward side of islands- where the waves would have been a lot less scary! Sailing through storm after storm on the windward side, finding clear skies became quite the task.While crossing and anchoring in the shallow Exuma Bank, we almost ran aground and then were bashed by a rage in the middle of the night! Learn from us and try to cruise a little better ha! The Passage's South book helped a lot. It was a wild and bumpy ride, so bumpy in fact that MoonShadow actually sprung a leak in her bilge and then started to take on water. Not to fear, the locals of Cabbage Hill in the remote and desolately populated Crooked Island Archipelago showed us the brighter and more humbling side of the Bahamas. They graciously accepted us in their harbor and were very hospitable until we finished the boat repairs. On Crooked Island we explored to pick fresh fruit from the hurricane stricken trees still standing, bought some hard to find liquor out of the back of a truck, and even had the chance to witness one of their most exciting events that happens on the island... (surprise surprise there!) Next stop, Turks and Caicos where we learned the more suffering one goes through, the better the fresh fish taste! Thanks for being awesome and following our explorations!
