Audi Centre Sydney BWPS Tollgate Island Race Start 2023

Capturing the imagery of the first evening race start in the Audi Centre Sydney BWPS series is a balance of challenge and reward, as the rich colours of sunset swiftly give way to darkness. Accompanied by a fluctuating light NNE’er the sun set shortly after 7pm yesterday, with Andoo Comanche & URM trading numerous tacks and close crosses, as they led the fleet down Sydney Harbour.The sweep of the Hornby Lighthouse on South Head was already starting to dominate the scene as URM led Andoo Comanche through the Heads and turned south. By the time the following yachts had cleared the harbour, the two brightest stars in the Southern Cross were clearly visible and only the masthead and the stern lights of the fleet could be seen heading slowly down the coast.
